Something is going down. Teams already know who they need to cut and who will restructure, so it won't be to allow teams more time for that

OK so what does that mean?

Do teams have three days to get under the cap or do they still have to be under by 10pm toinite?

Is the salary cap already set for 94.5 mil this year or can it change?

Ok, on PFT (yeah yeah) they're saying the cut deadline has been extended as well until Sunday midnite. They're speculating that could mean something is in the works with the CBA. (Could also explain why we haven't heard from more teams about cuts.)

Profootballtalk.com:
NFL EXTENDS START OF LEAGUE YEAR

A league source tells us that the NFL and the NFLPA have agreed to extend by 72 hours the launch of the 2006 league year.

Per the source, the year will begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday morning, and not at 12:01 a.m. on Friday morning.

This means that the deadline for getting under the 2006 salary cap likewise is extended from 10:00 p.m. Thursday night to 10:00 p.m. Sunday night.

It suggests that maybe, just maybe, there will be progress toward getting the CBA extended. As one league source has explained, however, the more likely explanation is that the league has opted to give the teams more time to sift through their player contracts in decided where to make cuts in order to get under the cap.

I sure hope the Glover WILL BE released story is true and not that Glover WAS cut today.

Sorry--it's a done deal. It's even up on DC.com.

This sucks. Not only do I have to wait longer for cuts, but we would have had more time to restructure Glover!

Mortensen on ESPNNEWS just said (5:15pm) that CBA negotiations have resumed on Thursday afternoon.

Free Agency begins at 12:01am Monday.

Cut deadline is 6pm Sunday.

I think that the NFLPA finally realized that the owners weren't going to call their bluff and that the players had much more to lose. The CBA looks like it will be extended and the Skins will not be in any trouble! :)
