I can't believe some of you are saying Jerry shouldn't have paid Romo. Isn't that a little rash?

Who would you like to play QB for us then? Maybe another minor league baseball washout?

Exactly. Horrible move by Jerry but what else is new?

And a lot of the fanbase ate it up. Pointing to how bad this franchise would be without Romo and how scared they were of the unknown.

I'd rather have the unknown than to be paying over $100mill to a guy about to be 34 who now has back issues and has never won anything.

The unknown is going to happen sooner rather than later.

I still think he plays this Sunday, he may be in a wheel chair, but he'll find a way. :D

You're still here n I suppose NOT buying it, can't others do the same? I don't get the whole 100% in or out xrap.

Sure. I don't deal in absolutes.

I'm not buying it. As in not financially supporting Jerry Jones' product.

As in not believing the "we're this close" lines anymore.

Also as in not listening to anyone else trying to make excuses for the continued incompetence and ineptitude.

Not really any more so than for someone to lose cred themselves saying time n again "they lost credibility!!!!!" All the time.

Or for folks to take their ball and go home and then come back...

I'm waiting for that day. The Romo era had a few good moments but overall, it was a failure. Maybe that can change but I seriously doubt it.

Yeah the defense is beyond bad but I hate how that takes away from the ineptitude of Garrett, Romo and this offense.

Listening to the Ticket, they bring up some interesting points about this surgery.

Romo's 100% may not be the same 100% after the surgery. For example, right now he's at 100% and then has surgery. After the surgery, his 100% may now be 93% of his original 100%. If he were to have another one, he'd than be 85% of his original 100%. But that's his "full recovery." Sounds confusing I know but it makes sense.

Romo will be able to play at a high level next year. Considering he wasn't 100% all year obviously, I think he'll be back to his 2011 days

I know how you feel. This team should have been on the upswing after that playoff win against Philly in 2009 but it's just been one disappointment after another since then.

Paying him and paying him as one of the highest paid NFL QBs in history are 2 different things.

I was in favor of giving him a 1-2 yr extension and trying to find his future replacement in the meantime. But Jerry went all in and made him our QB of the present and future. Totally ridiculous deal.

I just wish we would realize the inconvenient truth in that this window has closed.

And then take steps geared toward opening a new one rather than continuing to get our fingers slammed in this one trying to keep it open.

Have to give Romo credit for gutting out that Skin win. It may not amount to anything in the long run, but gutsy.

Absolutely. The guy's toughness can never be questioned.

That's not realistic, though. You can argue where he ranks, but he's a franchise QB without a doubt. Those guys get paid, and they don't have to accept team-friendly contracts You either pay him market value or let him walk. And if he walks, who plays QB for us?

Have the cowboys ever admitted to rebuilding or did we as fans assume that rebuilding was taking place? I don't think JJ will ever come out and say that it's time to clean house and start over and we are now rebuilding for fear of losing fans and most importantly $$$. Truth be told they should have been grooming a qb for the last couple years instead of trying to find the "one" missing piece or the "one" player needed to win a sb.

This surgery decision was likely due to his remaining dysfunctional and/or there still being compression of a nerve root. There are other possibilities such as a fragment in there which would/could create problems down the road, the size of a herniation and/or the degree of impingement, and possibly nerve conduction studies. You can add in the art of medicine in some deciding it just best to move forward and give Tony the best shot to be ready for the next season including getting enough rehab to allow for offseason workouts. This isn't really a 'severe' back injury but a common place one that likely will do better in the near and long term if addressed now.

So there is no grand conspiracy to hide anything and I'm certain within a reasonable degree of medical certainty that this was day to day. You can always do the surgery later and there is no likelihood of permanent problems with playing with compression of the nerve root or cord under most circumstances.
