Steelers new head coach Tomlin spoke at his press conference and said that 69 year old DC Dick LeBeau will stay on as the leader of the defense and they will stay with the 3-4 defense although he is a 4-3 guy.

He eased a lot of people's concerns when he announced he was keeping highly regarded Dick LeBeau as his defensive coordinator even though LeBeau runs a 3-4 defense and he prefers a 4-3, saying he was willing to be flexible with his strategy. "Part of good coaching is doing what your guys do well."

Oh well, I guess Wade Phillips is the last of the 3-4 experts or we will have to go to a 4-3 with 3-4 players because who else is out there that knows the system to lead a defense that severely underachieved.

I think if we change back to the 4-3 we would have more depth in players and a better passrush. Did you see how many sacks we got in the Detroit Lions game with the 4-3?

He'd then be a devastating pass rushing DE and would outweigh Jason Taylor and Jeavon Kearse. As Brandon Jacobs will attest he can tackle big RBs in the backfield.

On the other side Hatcher would compete with Greg Ellis and Kenyon Coleman at their natural positions at DE while Spears moves to his natural DT position.

Ferguson and Ratliff would compete for the DT over center position.

Bobby Carpenter goes back to his college position at strong side OLB, Ayodele plays MLB as he did sucessfully at Jacksonville and two LBs lost in the Parcell's shuffle compete at the weakside Singleton and Burnett. Brady James take his natural postion as well--on the bench studying how to tackle fullbacks out of the backfield. Roy plays down in the box on occasion as Singleton can cover well when the element of surprise returns to our defense.

Surprise it's a 4-3.

We also played a Mike Martz offense. He's not know for blocking for a qb.
