Grossman was in houston last year, who was houston's OC? Kyle Shannahan.
You have to have someone who knows your system and this is what grossman would bring. So if they draft say bradford, they could then have grossman there to help him learn early on or if campbell is traded they could have grossman play early on.
I guess it is no different than todd collins being signed after saunders was brought in, but it doesnt feel like a bad move for them to me.
