was posting this for cowboys fans that might have wanted holgremen formerly of packers and seattle, He is in cleveland. Shanahan is in Buffalo talking to Buffalo. Just talking right now, so you might want to scratch those off of your list for possibile head coaches with cowboys next year if wade doesnt come through.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Oh well. I gave up on Holmgren when the Cleveland rumors first started. Shanahan would be option B, but he probably would be anxious for a place like Buffalo where he could exert more authority.

It is irrelevant anyways. We will continue with what we have. Family picture and all of that.

Report: Bills contact Mike Shanahan

Posted by Michael David Smith on November 18, 2009 3:35 PM ET

The Buffalo Bills have named defensive coordinator Perry Fewell the interim replacement for fired head coach **** Jauron. But they might be looking for a long-term replacement who will make a big splash.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Bills have contacted Mike Shanahan to gauge Shanahan's interest in becoming their next head coach.

ESPN also reports that the process is underway of arranging a meeting between Shanahan and the Bills.

Shanahan, who won two Super Bowls as the head coach of the Denver Broncos, would presumably want complete control of all football decisions. Given that the Bills are likely looking at a front-office shakeup in addition to a new head coach, that probably wouldn't be a problem for Bills owner Ralph Wilson.

Shanahan was fired early this year after coaching the Broncos from 1995 to 2008.

UPDATE: Schefter also reports that the Bills will consider Florida Tuskers coach Jim Haslett, New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride and Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman.

I wouldn't want any of those guys. Shanahan on the other hand is someone who would be a great hire for Buffalo.

If i was shanahan thought, i wouldnt take the buffalo job, i would wait and see what happens with jacksonville, and a few other teams at the end of the year. Heck if san diego doesnt go far this year in playoffs he might get a chance wiht the chargers. I would wait.

I really dont want either one of them either, i want a young fiery coach, or a ooach possibly like urban meyer. Yeah i know he is a college coach and might be out of his league, but jimmy johnson has won championships with miami and so has meyer.

What i would do if i was jerry jones, i would hire an offensive consultant to help out with offense like dan reeves or jon gruden right now, then see how they do helping jason garrett. Then if things still didnt work out, when you hire another head coach, you have an experienced consultant to help the young head coach whoever he might be if wade doesnt make it. Hopefully wade does and we dont have to restart over again. I would say also if wade doesnt make it, let wade take over the 3-4 defense and be the defensive coordinator. Most likely wade wouldnt like to be demoted, but if wade doesnt cut it here and win a playoff game here or 2. I dont think any other team will hire him since he has never won a playoff game.

Well if both those guys wind up picked up before this season is even over then it means either Phillips will get another year or two here or Jason Garrett just may get to take over.

Somehow I just dont see Shanahan going to Buffalo, unless he basically has no other alternatives. They have revenue issues, a mediocre team with questions at QB and OL, a problem player in Lynch and also the TO thing, though he might be gone after this yr. I also doubt he'd make any decision before seeing what opportunities do come available in the offseason.

I dont think there any doubt that Zorn is done in Washington. Lovie Smith might be in trouble in Chicago. There's the Wade thing here thats clearly up in the air. John Fox may or may not be back in Carolina. Raheem the dream might make it only a year. In the AFC, obviously Buffalo will need a new HC. It will be interesting to see what happens with Jeff Fisher in Tennessee. Oakland will probably be looking again. Mangini definitely might be one and done in Cleveland, especially if Holmgren takes over as President/GM/Czar there.

totally agree, but i think shanahan best option is jacksonville or san diego, those teams are built better, kinda like after shanahan took over after wade left in buffalo, i think it took shanahan 2 years to get to the superbowl and tennessee might be an option too if fisher leaves. Carolina is still 2 years away wiht no proven QB because delhomme is done, chicago no great wrs yet, and getting old on defensive line.

I think Jacksonville's owner is already on record saying Del Rio is coming back, and they are 5-4 now anyway.

San Diego is not going to fire Norv, barring some amazing collapse. They are probably going to win that divison again, and unlike Schottenheimer, Turner has actually had success in th postseason, and IMO will probably win in the postseason again this yr too.

what is either "getting away with"??

niether of them has actually hired anybody...they can talk to whomever they want thats available...the rule just says they have to interview minority candidates, it doesnt say what order candidates have to be interviewed in

I would consider Jerry Glanville, June Jones, Charlie Weis or Ray Rhodes and Romeo Cremmel while I'm at it.

Why would a bad team consider so many mediocre retreads to right their listless ship?

Thats not the rule. they have to be considered, but not interviewed first. There is no set order.

Because all franchises have different views, and ive been saying that to different fans for a long time. They all dont have the fans view in mind. Some are just looking to make a buck and some are looking to be winners. What franchise is doing what is up to the fan to decide. Buffalo isnt here to spend their money to make fans happy, they might be there to spend the least amount of money and make more money.

It is at the end of the day a business and everyone uses that word and understands it. The fans have to understand that to.

Couldnt you sit in a chair and consider them without seeing them? Pretty much the same thing if your mind is made up? IM not arguing with you, just trying to find out more about this, because while I do not agree with the law of it, I do think an approach can be made for all lesser experienced coaches.
