4 of the last 5 Perfect 8-0 Road teams went on to the SB.

Here are the perfect road 8-0 teams since the 16 game schedule
2007 Pats L-SB
2001 Rams L-SB
1990 49'ers L-NFC Championship
1989 49'ers W-SB
1984 49'ers W-SB

I know there's some risk involved and we need to manage the game but I really want this game Sunday on many levels. Go for it!

That is a list of some really good teams. The 3 49ers teams were all excellent and the one that lost in the Championship game was a great team that lost a very close game to a team that kind of got lucky.

The 2001 Rams team was also probably the better team that just kind of ran into a defensive mastermind on top of his game.

The 2007 Pats team also got a but unlucky and ran into a team that got hot late in the year.

If we pull off the win then I would say we are keeping some pretty good company.

Great info. It's a shame the mediots ignore this.

I sure you meant to say a defensive mastermind that cheats.

Yes I had previously pointed out that 2007 was the last 8-0 road record by the undefeated Patriots. I also noted that in that very same year, the Dallas Cowboys road record was?

7-1.

Bottom line. If Seattle and Arizona lose it would've been a stupid move not to play to win. Really stupid.

Neat stat. The teams on that list were no joke, especially those 9ers teams.

If Seattle and Arizona both lose we'll be the #2 seed win or lose. The only other way we'll move from the #3 seed is if GB and Detroit tie and we win we'll be the #1 seed.

Edit: Seattle has to win or Arizona has to lose also if GB/Det tie and we win to get the #1 seed.

What people are not saying here is the problem the Boys have winning at home......and this is something that JJ should be focused on changing. Maybe he has to ask the players themselves why the loss of focus at home. What can help them play better at home? Is it the loud music/distractions that disengages the fans from the game itself? Is it the 3 ring circus-like atmosphere that is created or the ginormous screen that has fans sitting like they were in their livingroom watching the game? Don't know, but something NEEDS to change to at least win 75% of the time. You can't depend on sweeping your road games every year just to be in the hunt for the playoffs.

If Jerry wants to be a GM, this is something that should be priority #1 next year. Going 7-1 or even 8-0 on the road is great.....but you should be getting the #1 seed easily with a record like that and not depending on ties or other teams to lose. C'mon Jerry do your freaking job.

Great info. It's a shame the mediots ignore this.

Actually, the mediots, as you call them, have highlighted this stat. I saw it the other day.
But what does it tell us, really? Does that automatically mean that if we go 8-0 we're going to go to the NFC Championship or even the Super Bowl?
I think we get so caught up in these "trend" or "pattern" phenomenon that we somehow believe that "magically" we're going to fall in line.
They're nice to know, but they really don't mean that much. Each team is responsible for shaping its own destiny. The same goes for the Cowboys whether they complete perfection on the road or not.
