Wouldn't it seem reasonable to organize mandatory classes based on conduct with the media.

I'm not saying that we should censor the players comments. What I am proposing is that the management educate them on a more professional and politically correct demeanor.

These player are young and naive coming out of college, and deserve this kind of support. After all, they are celebrities with little ammo to intelligently respond to the many snakes in the press.

What do you think about this?

I think there should be guidelines set for sure. Never understood why teams don't require more of their players in regards to dealing with the media.

I'm pretty sure Parcells lectured the players about how the media is. Said he would be reading several news sources daily looking for comments. Talked about how the media is not your friend.

Jerry quickly threw that out when he regained power.

I always thought the rookies got all kinds of support from their money on down. Maybe this is one area they over looked but it's a good idea for the whole team...

The league does have classes. I'd be shocked if this wasn't also addressed by some teams likely most of them. Some people just don't listen.

Think about it. In any big corporation, no person other than the press information officer or boss would dare speak without approval. And I am speaking about professionals.

Now, you have some relatively naive and language and mentally challenged athletes mouthing off and holding stream of consceiousness interviews with the press? Ridiculous.

The more I think of it the more I think that Jerra's way will become the norm in the NFL. The HC or the GM or owner will speak. Everybody else will keep their mouths shut and don't give the media or opposing teams any information or bulletin board material they can use. It only makes sense.

Again, these athletes are in the NFL because they are athletic and they can play. Not because they are Rhodes scholars (OK, the rare player is a Rhodes scholar) or even intelligent. That's just the way it is. I am not denigrating them, that is just fact.

Oh, and nice post.

Your right about BP creating an awareness, but I think that fell short of solid support.

I'm thinking more along the lines of educational classes, with professional trainers, who do methods of role play for example.

i think now, dont quote me on this; but best i remember jerry jones said sometime in january that some media the cowboys know not to talk to and some they do.

And remember best i remember Hostile said some trickle down effect was fixing to come down on the cowboy players. Maybe the cowboys players now will get it from jerry jones lips to stop all of the sources or else they wont be on the team, just like T O and roy williams were cut.

You as a player had better come aboard, zip your mouth shut about stuff in the locker room, or else your outa here. And you had better work hard too, because if jerry jones had to cut one of the players he liked in T O, he can cut you now too if you dont perform and perform well.

Seriously, not trying to embarrass you. But do you really not know the difference between the words "IDEA" and "IDEAL"? 'Cus it's not the first time I've seen you use it. It's not a typo.

BTW... They have a rookie meetings every year, that address the very topic, submitted by the OP.

I'm liking this idea. Let's have a spokesperson, and allow the coaching staff and team to focus on wining.

Perhaps we could get George Bush's former press secretary. He was great at avoiding answering the questions.

Ah like it too.

In fact, I am thinking of getting my own press agent.

Hey, Hos, iffin I pay you, say, $100 a month, I wonder if you would be my spokesman at press conferences, post-game shows, bar mitzvas
and congressional hearings?

Don't answer yes right away when you see $$$$, just mull it over.

Surely none would be as smart as you or be able to keep their opinions to themselves.

Therin lies the problem. You try to be subtle but go hideously wrong toward self-parody. Then you compound the problem with an unreconciled none with the plural pronouns.
You went to school in Virginia and finished in a Caribbean island, yes?

;)
