No, not really. But this is not a topic that I get all bent out of shape about. It's not like I'm one saying people are not real fans for thinking that way. I just don't agree with losing on purpose in a profession where you literally are paid millions to play your best to try your best to win. If that's "5 year-old baby talk" in your eyes, well, so be it.
Do you think the Jets, Jags, Bengals are TRYING TO WIN NOW? No. It would be idiotic for them to hurt their draft position. The value of the trade back is tremendous when you are that high in the draft. At #4 overall the Cowboys could trade back a few spots, and land an ALL PRO and probably get a first round pick next year and maybe even two second round picks to go along with it. So pick at #3 or #4, or pick maybe around 6-10 and get three more picks to go along with it, due to a trade back OR (drumroll) pick at 6-10 and nothing else because you won a meaningless game. I’m sorry, but to not want to take advantage of that seems idiotic to me. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Every team that passed on Mahomes chose poorly, and that’s on them. But the teams drafting below KC had no chance to draft Mahomes.
Yes, the Jets and Jags for sure are trying to win. Have you watched their games? The Jets played lights out last week vs the Raiders. Then their DC had a brain fart at the end and they lost. Ownerfired him the next day, they were so pissed that they lost. Chargers too. Tryiing their ***** off to win...and suceeding the 4 win Panthers and Falcons are trying too. Everyone in our crap division is trying. 3 win Philly just won their 4th you’re way off and completely unlike the Cowboys—who have no chance at Lawrence—Jags and Jets at least have a legit excuse at tanking. That is, if there ever would be a legit excuse, that would be it.
Bottom line is dallas will draft higher than last year, and everyone thought last year was good. Jerry already said no qb would be drafted in rd 1 so that is out. Jones boys have never traded down ......EVER so I dont know why some here keep saying that. Jones boys are not going to do what you want them to as far as the draft goes. So if they draft at spot 4 or spot 8 isnt going to make all that much difference. I say they should try to win, but if they lose to SF , then I would be ok with losing the last 2 as well, and they should BUT......... didnt they just win a meaningless game last year against the giants in game 16 ?? So no telling what they will do, just dont expect them to be too clever lol.
I think that given the players available it would be very beneficial to trade back. That doesn't mean they will.
it might be, but I dont remember jones boys ever trading down, if they get a #4 pick again, that is so rare, they will be like kids in a candy store, and they will use it to pick a player, not get more picks.
The Cleveland Browns pulled themselves out of the primordial soup by intentionally maximizing their draft picks by being at the bottom of the scrap heap, for several years. They are reaping the benefits of it now.
I know that this is a very polarizing subject, but in my humble opinion I would have rather seen the Cowboys played awesomely well today, developed players and LOST. We have been middle of the pack as a team since 1995. You guys complain about not being relevant in the playoffs and finishing in the middle of the pack is a HUGE part of that result. There is usually a huge dropoff in talent in tiers at somewhere between 3-5 and another drop off at 6-8 and again at around 10-12. That’s why the trade value chart values higher picks as worth so many points. The difference between pick 12 and say maybe 19 is so vast it’s often the dropoff of a full round value just in that area.
You can’t score or make a tackle from the bench. Not even Mahomes or Donald does either from the bench.
coaches dont buy into tanking and will NOT BECH players in hopes of loss..sorry both apply no layer or coach buys into tank jobs.. not many teams have ever purposefully tanked and if it were that obvious Goodelll would take that pick from them in heart beat..sportsmanship and integrity go into it.. only way that could happen is an atempt by and owner/GM to trade or cut all your best players..and still ive seen teams get better like MIA last year who finished the season 3-3 and 2-0 with fitz..why didnt they play rosen?
so thats the plan the browns sucked for 15 years and had 100s of first round picks, 4-5 HCs 2-3 gms and a new owner all the while and they are not out of chit..one decent year that hasn't ended yet and they arrived? that BS thats no plan it took them more then decade of tanking to have it work..nah they just sucked and finally got lucky,.thats not plan..we saw the jags have that one good season, what happened? gone as fast as it came.. tanker will not win this debate theres no full proof blueprint that says it works..
