30 million a year would put him in the top tier of QBs. He is no where near the top tier of QBs playing today. He isn't in the 2nd tier either.

Troy didn't have to have elite talent. He just had it. Great players can play with other great players without making one a fraud. Emmitt ran behind that OL. That OL blocked for Emmitt. Both were great. Prescott needs great players because he lacks talent. He can't throw the ball. He can't read defenses. He has no pocket presence. You better have a great running game and defense or you got no shot with this QB. Your passing offense will always be a sloppy sandlot style of play.

They don't adjust the contracts of all 32 starting QB's to make sure salaries reflect QB rankings at all times. That's not how it works. That's not how market value works. The current market environment is as much a factor as the talent of the player. Accordingly, Dak's contract will simply mean he was negotiating in a better market environment than those who may have negotiated a year ago, or 2-3 years ago.

he HAD to have Emmitt and Michael. Troy doesn't win without those guys. Don't you recall how Troy got beaten like a piñata before Emmitt? Dak feeds off of Zeke and vice versa. Same with Troy and Emmitt.

This guy actually believes Dak is like Troy Aikman.

Don't you remember Troy his rookie year in 89 with the worst team in football, eh? Well don't ya?

Waste of time. Enjoy your bum bus driver. You'll be making excuses for him the rest of his career.

Troy WAS elite with his guts and accuracy..he was money. Problem was, before Emmitt arrived, he got beaten badly because he had zero help. What happened after Emmitt? Yup...started winning. ITS A TEAM SPORT INDEED.

When you pay a QB 30 million a year, you shouldn't have to also pay a WR 16 million and a RB another 16. That QB shouldn't need it. He should simply make stars of the next batch of skill players because he should be great. He's getting paid like it.

Prescott needs it and more.

What an absolute disgrace that contract will be.

This is nothing but fantasyland thinking..of course in a perfect world you would have a qb that is capable of that..you can name on one hand how many of those guys in this world there are..unfortunately, the market deems what players are worth..and the qb market is filled with crazy high demand and very little supply

Did you think you made a good point there?

I'm just asking.

He merely said Troy needed top talent at RB and WR to win, and there really is no way to argue otherwise. He didn't say Dak was Troy's equal.

What did Troy win without Emmitt, Michael, an elite OLine? Oh **** don't forget the D.

So in your highly intelligent way of thinking, I must pay a stiff QB 30 million a year because finding a real QB is really hard. There simply aren't enough to go around. So get the checkbook out.

Should I take the advice of the great Stephen Stills - If you can't be with the one you love, love the stiff you're with. - ?

Uh, no.

Did you? Because your point was ridiculous. Your argument that a player can't or shouldn't get a contract that is higher than that of a better player is nonsense because it doesn't reflect the reality of how the market for players changes over time. That's like saying a person can't take advantage of an improved real estate market and sell a house for a higher price than his neighbor who has a better house did a year or two before when the real estate market was different. Everybody has to do business within the market that exists at the time. You can't simply ignore that market condistions change.

Better to be 4-12 and reboot for years, while waiting for this FO you trust so much to find another QB.
Happy?

Wait. You're advocating paying Dak Prescott 30 million a year and I'm ridiculous?

I'll be concerned with the QB market, Bubba, when the Cowboys have a QB worth a contract.
