according to BP at the PC. SInce he is only activating 3 tackles, then Petitti is the swing. Means it ain't gonna be Fabini. AND this means that Columbo is the starter. Said he is not going to put McQ on the PS- said he will be part of the 53.

Yea, he also said that we should not necessarily count Fabini out - that he might keep "all of them".

Does this mean for certain that Colombo is the new starting RT?

I'm still alittle worried. Took BP this long to determine the starter. Will Colombo be a vast upgrade over Petitti of last year???

No DOUBT that Columbo is an upgrade over 2005 Petitti. 2006 Petitti is better but not as good as Columbo- but he can play both sides so is the guy to swing. McQ is too valuable to expose to the PS so he stays. Seems to me its clear that Fabini is hanging on by his fingernails.

Sounded like Bill wished McQ could start on both ends..what a glowing report on this kid.

I'm happy for Rob..even if he doesn't start, he's earned Bil's trust as the swing tackle ..and a very young swing at that.

He wasn't going to say,"Yeah, Fabini's gone come the final cut down." Fabini is still here in case of injury and to take some of the preseason reps.

I don't see any way he can keep 5 tackles. I think he all but said that Fabini is going to be cut.

Fabini makes the Roster and will be deactived every week.

If McQ is NOT going to the PS, then Fabini is gone. Simple as that. BP made it very clear that Columbo Petitti and McQ are on the squad with Flo. That is 4 tackles- NO way does he keep five with having to keep an extra kicker.

I happy for Rob as well and this allows him more time to develop. Being thrown out there as he was last season would overwhelm a lot of young Tackles even highly drafted one.

It sounded to me like Parcells is considering trying McQ at RT. He is really high on that kid! I think he is wondering if McQ could be the starting RT.

No- no way as starter. He tried a rookie last year and will not do it again. Columbo is the man.

I guess my "crystal ball" on McQuistan was correct lol. I didn't have a good read on the Petittti/Fabini deal but I'm happy for Rob. That's bad news for Fabini although BP denied that necessarily meant he was on the way out but it probably does.

I don't know, I'm thinking we could cut the guy and bring him back if we need him later in the year

Some people here thought that Rob would be cut, but Bill has always said that he likes him and he's happy with his conditioning.

And, as a veteran, if he is on the opening day roster his season's salary is guaranteed. If he is added to the roster later, it isn't. Cut him and keep him on speed dial in case of injury.

I just really don't see us keeping 5 tackles. It would make more sense to have 4 and use that roster spot on another linebacker or defensive lineman. With the ammount of rotating Parcells does on defense, backups on that side of the ball have more of an impact than on offense.

Yeah, just look at Gallery. That guy was supposed to be the most sure thing of that draft, but I don't think he's much better than Pettiti if at all.
