PFF Grades - Week 9 2025

Good: Ezeiruaku looks like a long term piece.

Bad: Shemar James. His "fans" have no idea what they're looking at when watching a football game. He is good at blitzing straight down hill. He looks completely lost at every other phase of the game.
He looked more than lost. He looked unwilling to make contact. He had obvious gaps to fill and sat on his thumbs. Dude is trash. Hes a soft player.

Have any of our LBs filled gaps? I haven't been seeing it.

we need a safety badly, never seen a back end give up so many big passing plays in the first 9 weeks.
Scheme is bad, but it's pretty clear Hooker is better than these backups, right? Last couple of week have been brutal. Brissette was out there looking like Mahomes.

But now that we have a plus NFL interior D line with Williams, a much smarter MIKE in Wilson, and Overshown back in the fold we better be able to stop the run against the Raiders.

That's 3 new defensive pieces we haven't had all season (27% of the total defence and 43% of our front 7). James will be fine at SAM in 8 man fronts.

Revel is our only hope at upgrading the secondary. We just need Hooker back (as bad as that sounds) with these upgrades in the front 7 and hopefully we get closer to league average.

Come draft time we'll have to try to upgrade quite a bit more (Safety, Edge, MIKE. CB, RB2) We'll need to draft depth at CB even if we hit on Revel.

You are totally correct, hate to say it but hooker is our best safety and its sad. If this trade deadline is any sign of things to comes, Looks like we are loading up to make a run in 2026. Fill some holes with premium FA's and draft well and we should be otw to a balanced team that can compete.

How can the defensive line have all those high grades when the Cards scored on 50% of their possessions?
Check out the coverage grades--29, 36, 41. The Cowboys will have an eight-yard sack on first down and follow it with a nineteen-yard gain on a quick throw on second down. The line will likely grade out well there, but the end result is terrible.

Donovan Ezeiruaku - 83.8 (51 snaps) - 80.0 run defense grade, 71.3 pass rush grade, 34.6 tackling grade

This one makes me very happy. If we are going to improve this defense over the next months and years, Eze is going to be a big part of it.

DaRon Bland - 41.9 (65 snaps) - 69.9 run defense grade, 36.6 coverage grade, 68.8 tackling grade - to my eye, the worst player on the field yesterday, including Terence Steele. Bland has been pretty poor this season.

This one is very depressing. If this defense is to improve, he has to play like he is paid.

Once again the linebackers grade out awful.

Db and linebacker play are just killing this team. The dline played pretty damn good last night. But it doesn't matter when everyone behind them are playing like practice squad players.
DL played BETTER not pretty damn good

Sauce is prob worth it, but we need front 7 more than back end right now. We need to be able to either stop the run or defend the pass. We can't do either.
if you do not have a good secondary it does not matter what the front 7 do
football 101

Yeah, you might have that backwards. You're saying pressure doesn't matter? I'd say it's the opposite. When you force QBs into bad decision making, it makes your secondary look great even when they are not. Our CBs need all the help they can get from the front 7. Man, we've got several holes to fill, since Diggs turnded out to be a flake.
