PFF doesn't distinguish right from left tackles. Collins has been the highest graded tackle ,right or left ,since week 1. PFF has a great system for grading. It is not perfect but its better than any other system out there.

They grade every player on every play. Most fans just remember really bad plays or really good plays.

Do they take into account the quality of the player tackles are up against? And wasn't the player he gave up a sack against Taco Charlton?

No they do not take that into account since a player only has control over whose in front of them. Collins and tyron were having pro bowl seasons prior to injury. No idea who gave up the Taco sack. Its all been accounted for.

They’re both a popularity contest. Peyton Manning ranked top 50 the year he missed the entire season. Guess he was #1 in illegal injections that year? Pro Bowl is the ultimate popularity contest.
