News: PFT: CBS isn't tied to Tony Romo, if it doesn't keep NFL games

I think it just means that if there’s no NFL, CBS won’t have to “Stephen A. Smith” Romo... having him running around doing everything under the sun (boxing, radio, talk shows) to get maximum return on the investment.

And this really means what? If CBS decided not to retain NFL football they have an out with Romo and his deal, so after a couple/three years of making 17m per season Romo would again be a FA able to sign with anybody, how is that a bad thing for Romo? CBS was just covering all their bases in the unlikely event the upper brass decides it doesn't want NFL football anymore, never happen

No guarantee a spot is open for Romo in 2-3 years. It was a golden opportunity, he should have gone to ESPN. That being said the market is constantly evolving. Who knows who could takeover for CBS.

If your at the top of your game (which he is as an analyst) there is always going to be a spot for you
