Chiefs Sign Curtis, Niswanger

Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 24, 2009, 11:59 a.m.

The Kansas City Chiefs added unrestricted free agent tight end Tony Curtis, the team announced today.

With the Dallas Cowboys, Curtis caught 11 passes for 80 yards and three touchdowns and also played on special teams.

Terms were not released.

Curtis used to play in the since-defunct NFL Europa for the Cologne Centurions.

Also, center Rudy Niswanger signed his restricted free agent tender.

Niswanger was assigned a $1.545 million second-round tender.

There was a time that I had high hopes for Curtis.

Best of luck to him!

a good pick up for them.

Curtis is going to give them outstanding special team play and solid receiving.

Agreed.

Solid guy in that back up role.

I got a feeling they are going to draft James Casey tomorrow.

Hope not though.

Curtis looked to have some soft, good hanvds. Goos ST player. Wis we could have kept him. But it seemed they liked Hannah just as well to replace him as a 3rd TE, and less money. I wish him good luck in KC [but not against us[].

I wouldn't doubt we draft a TE in the late rounds.

Too bad he was slow as Christmas and a terrible blocker

That is possible. I think they like Rodney Hannah who will get a chance to be the new 3rd stringer.

I think this indicates that Hannah may have a good shot of making the team and that Bennett may get more work! I like it

Casey's going to Miami, they have 2 #2's, KC has none. You know Big Bill loves TE's.

drats, now their head coach will get some tips from curtis on our routes, timing etc
but hey maybe he will put tony curtis in on blocking for punts, and we can block their punt for a TD
