Of course they were...every other player but Ron Leary (only missing because he wants to be traded so he can feel needed and start) was in attendance. Jerry Jones allowed McClain to be exempt and Coach Garrett decided to continue picking and choosing his battles with the front office. Now is the time to cut McClain at Garrett's urging publicly.

Garrett is almost to the point where he can't cut McClain. The longer this goes on, it's not going to look like it was his decision. Hard for players, or fans for that matter, to respect that.....

Does it really matter? Does anybody in Dallas really think it's anybody but Jerry putting up the resistance on this one? And does anybody really think Jason is going to win that fight?

That PFT report is based on a Mac Engel piece (first mistake), which they say appeared in the DMN (second mistake), and then they pick a single word from a throwaway sentence from the 800-word article to make a headline out of it (third mistake).

Here's what Engel wrote: "This guy found a reason to miss OTAs, which infuriated the coaches." With Engel, you never know whether he's just making stuff up, and there is no source that shows coaches were indeed "infuriated," or if they were, whether it was for McClain's suspension or for his sitting out OTAs.

Never mind all that, said PFT, and blasted this headline across their page: "Cowboys coaches reportedly furious Rolando McClain skipped OTAs."

This sums things up quite nicely in terms of not believing everything one reads or hears.

But much like political media drivel...many fish swallow the bait hook, line & sinker.

That said, McClain should be cut based on one principle IMO...he's a knucklehead that doesn't give a rats arse about much of anything but himself. The proof would be he's now accumulated 14 games worth of suspensions to begin the last 2 seasons. Jerry has shown a propensity to help/enable troubled individuals...and it worked somewhat during the 90's (if you discount things like Leon Lett's 1-year suspension, Irvin's drug trials, etc.). Winning covered/cured a lot of problems. But enough has to be enough in some cases. I'm all for 2nd chances...but there's varying circumstances involving some cases.

are you implying that the great Jason Garrett is not "building a long term contender"?

That is a very negative attitude

I said this last year and I am saying it again this year. Dude is not committed to being a Dallas Cowboy so he should not be a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Shouldn't have been last year, should not be this year.

Memo to Jerry Jones:

This is how you're undermining your coach and damaging your team. This is how you damage their authority and promote bad behavior among your players. This is how you damage the name and reputation of the Dallas Cowboys.

Decisions like this are how you hurt your own team.

Once again, there’s word out of Dallas that the Cowboys’ coaching staff is not seeing eye-to-eye with owner and G.M. Jerry Jones over troubled linebacker Rolando McClain.

Last month, after Jones said the Cowboys were willing to cut McClain some slack for missing OTAs, another report says Garrett didn’t agree with that approach.

And there are posters that will line up to defend Jerry and say that he does not meddle in team affairs. The same ones will say Garrett has total control as well, but l can say that they never let facts get in the way of their defense.
