“He’s exceptional,” receiver Cole Beasley recently said about Moore, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “A lot of guys wrote him off because of his size. They tend to do that in this league. But you can’t just find a gamer that knows how to go out there and play football. . . . He’s one of those guys.”

“He’s like a machine,” Scott Linehan said, via Machota. “He anticipates and sees guys open. He’s extremely accurate. A lot of guys get it done different ways, but guys don’t last long if they can’t hit moving targets on the run. That’s what he does best.”

Linehan added that the Cowboys “have all the confidence in the world” in Moore.

“It might be a little bit different than Dak would do it, but he knows what he can do and he doesn’t let what he can’t do get in his way,” Linehan said.

I think he's a serviceable #2 in this league and can make some good $$ doing it. Would be exposed in long stents as a starter but for a couple games here and there, will put his team in position to come away with a W.

Dez needs the ball thrown high so he can outjump people. Both he and Witten do a good job shielding off defenders. Switzer and Beasley have elite quickness that generates significant separation.

The two I worry about with Moore are TWill and Butler who don't get consistent separation and have questionable hands with contested catches.

Anticipation is great but good quarterbacks have anticipation and arm strength. Moore is a limited athlete for the position. Now I am not going to panic if he has to start a game or two but everyone would need to be on their A-game. If Dak goes down for a significant period of time then he the season is over.

Good thing Dak is young and well built.

That final game of 2015 against the Skins:
435 yards
3 TDs
100.6 passer rating

All that while Doug Free was getting him killed. Moore was sacked 4 times.

To be fair to both teams, that "game" was essentially a glorified practice. Skins defense particularly from the 2nd quarter on was littered with 2nd teamers. The Cowboys had their bags packed and the Skins were trying to make it out of Texas healthy before the playoff game the following week.

I think Moore is a guy you can live with as the backup on gameday. He comes in the game to relieve Dak for a quarter or 2 and keeps the ship from sinking. That's all. You never want him going into a game as the starter and the opposing team has a full week to prepare for him.

I don't mind the arm limitations if he was efficient and took care of the football.

But Moore had more INT's in his three starts in 2015 than Dak had the entire 2016 season. He showed he was capable of stringing together drives, but some of the INT's were really, really bad.

I think Moore will be a decent full time backup. His only issue is arm strength. He can actually generate enough velocity on the ball but it requires a full body motion which takes longer and requires more space. If he has a defender in his face he can't just flick the ball with arm only throws.

Playing behind the Cowboys OLine and with rhe threat of Zeke running bodes well for him.
