I dont even care about the physical dollars but I dont see why this contract should effect our available cap space at all.

Are the salary cap ramifications a decision for Goodell or the courts?

They won't get cap space unless they get a judgement to get real money back. Even if they get a judgement for real money, there is no guarantee that they get the cap space back. It will be up to Goodell.

Which means it's up to the owners. Depends on what kind of precedent the rest of the owners want to set.

I agree with what you've typed here.

But I gotta think any monies returned to the Cowboy by Ratliff would end up being applied (or subtracted) from Ratliff's cap charge for 2014.

I usually don't side with the owners but they better fall in line in with this judgment or support. Sets a dangerous precedent for second contracts (Ratliff's third, but any other owner...joking, kinda).

True.

And Mara will probably be in his ear about it.

I don't have high hopes...

Is Rat anything like Haynesworth? That man stole so much $$$$ from the Washington Racists.

Well Haynesworth was just obvious ****** (big name FA) where Ratliff just got extended but decided he was butt hurt...less media only diff, well and that amount of money. Dang, almost forgot about Skins getting screwed that bad...

I wonder how much of this goes back to the DUI Ratliff received and how much grief the Cowboys gave him (and rightfully so) over that.

It seems like things went down hill fast after that event.

Maybe he (Ratfliff) got his nose bent outta shape over getting his hand slapped.

I'm sure the Cowboys were none too pleased considering how soon it happened after the tragic accident.

Wouldn't doubt this for one second.

Man! I need to let this go!

And which owners would like to stick it to Jerry as well. My guess is money talks and the rest walks.

I'll bet you all the money I have that Jerry had him followed and caught him doing stuff that would out Jay. You don't have that much money on the line including a lot of cap space without covering your bases.

NOW everyone's concerned with cap space. When Dallas is restructuring and wasting space on scrub free agents the cap is a joke. Doesn't mean a thing to spend cap dollars.

But, when there's a possibility of getting some cap space back then everyone is all aboard and ready to do whatever it takes to get that cap space back.

It wouldn't be up to Goodell. It would be one of the various committees, just like everything else.

I don't think the courts would have any say regarding imaginary money. They might be able to get actual dollars back to Jones but the salary cap aspect is probably going to have to be a NFLPA agreement with the owners.

To be honest, I don't think the courts shouldn't have any say in the cap dollars.

I've complained about being in cap trouble since about oh forever.

What's your point?

People shouldn't care about this Snake stealing cap-space?

Who cares about restructuring and the management or rather mismanagement of the cap. That's another subject altogether.

People shouldn't care this?

Without a doubt! I don't think Rat was even aware that was even happening. Say what you want about Jerry but he is a smart man and he was looking for leverage and he found it. I believe that's why he was so upset. He knew he got swindled and he is pissed

There would be no basis for a legal complaint by the Cowboys against Ratliff until he signs and possibly plays for another team. I am sure that the Cowboys are waiting for the signing to be official and it will not be until Ratliff takes and passes a physical with Chicago. They may also have to wait until he is active for a game though participating in a team practice may work as well.

Given the heated exchanges that Jerry and Jay have had over the last year, Jerry taking legal action against Jay would not be a surprise at this point.

I want Ratliff to suffer...and to suffer horribly. Does that make me a bad person?
