I wasn't singling any one person out. Just the general sentiment among the posters.

I know you weren't referencing my post to you, but this was a fair response anyways.

You've always been a good read with extremely well-thought posts.

My thanks.

maybe he was injured in the dui crash and that is the legal matter. we should know soon enough. I hope Tfred smacks him good for Jerry

Ding ding ding! I think if there is an unsettled legal matter it pertains to this. I think what happened is, he was injured all along after that DUI accident and tried to blame it later on the subsequent conditioning injury. The conditioning injury of course happening because he was trying to hide the existing injury and compensating.

The problem is, at this point, the Cowboys have no real legal recourse because they obviously have no proof, otherwise he would have been released and that money recouped already.

There would be no basis for a legal complaint by the Cowboys against Ratliff until he signs and possibly plays for another team. I am sure that the Cowboys are waiting for the signing to be official and it will not be until Ratliff takes and passes a physical with Chicago. They may also have to wait until he is active for a game though participating in a team practice may work as well.

Given the heated exchanges that Jerry and Jay have had over the last year, Jerry taking legal action against Jay would not be a surprise at this point.

You got it nailed, boss.

I pray he passes that physical.

I want him in that game against our Boys.

One way or another- I want the opportunity for reciprocity.

I hope that SOMETHING good comes out of this situation (like the cap space), but I can't see cap space being given back...someone said that the space isn't a legal matter and I tend to agree with that....but, the team didn't get space back when we gave the contracts out during the non-capped season, why would the NFL give it back now? They should make the guy sit and NOT play

...now, despite mine and everyone else's disdain for Ratliff, perhaps his legal team already has a defense prepared like this:

Arbiter (60+ years old): "We agree that Mr Ratliff has violated the terms of his agreement with the Dallas Cowboys"
Ratliff's Lawyer: "But he wasn't healthy after he got hurt"
Ratliff, being the dope that he is, is seen watching a fly buzz around, and his head swivels back and forth matching the movements of the insect, entirely clueless to the goings on at the hearing
Arbiter: "How can you sit there across the table and say that he was hurt and unable to play when with Dallas, but now is fine?"
Ratliff's Lawyer: "Well, we have prepared documentation to prove our case"
a HUGE binder is pushed across the table, displacing the dust that had settled there previously
Ratliff's Lawyer: "I submit Exhibit's 1 through 526"
the binder is titled "Dallas Cowboys injuries since 2006 and the team's inability to stay healthy"; the picture on the cover is Miles Austin
Arbiter: prior to opening the binder, he says "What does this have to do with this case?"
Ratliff slaps the table hard, narrowly missing the fly; his head goes back on the swivel
Lawyer: "I would think this is obvious. Any team NOT named the Dallas Cowboys has a training staff that can assess an injury and get the players back on the field."
the arbiter watches the fly buzz around the binder and he slams it shut, killing the fly; where Ratliff's dim-wittedness prohibited him from catching the fly, the 60-year old arbiter easily caught it
Arbiter: "Case closed, we find in favor of Mr Ratliff"

I wonder how much of this goes back to the DUI Ratliff received and how much grief the Cowboys gave him (and rightfully so) over that.

It seems like things went down hill fast after that event.

Maybe he (Ratfliff) got his nose bent outta shape over getting his hand slapped.

I'm sure the Cowboys were none too pleased considering how soon it happened after the tragic accident.

This...and once I saw his interview at the kickoff presentation and how bitter he was talking about how the team doctors diagnosed his injury wrong. It was clear to me he wanted out of here

Well he signed... now he just has to play. I can't believe the Bears would sign him without some expectation that he would be able to contribute soon, if not immediately... That would just be another nail in ratliff's figurative coffin.

Was he suspended for the DUI? Even if he is cleared to play isn't their a suspension forthcoming?

I'll bet you all the money I have that Jerry had him followed and caught him doing stuff that would out Jay. You don't have that much money on the line including a lot of cap space without covering your bases.

I thought I was Mulder but would agree with this line...why not? You have plenty of money for PI's and other shady sorts to follow up on your questionable players; why thoue hell not tbh? I would hire sorts to follow all my players but I'm paranoid like that. You have millions invested, why WOULDN'T you cover your bases as a businessman like JJ. I would assume this has been common place for Owners/Gm's :) around the league....

That was funny and original...appreciate that kind of effort to this forum. Need more original posts like yours tbh...
