The Cowboys aren’t sure where on their offensive line rookie La’El Collins will play, but they like what they’re seeing from him. Collins played right tackle at last week’s Organized Team Activities and is at left guard this week, and coach Jason Garrett says Collins has looked good in both roles. “He’s done a good…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2332397&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

The amount of hater-ade in the comments section of that article has be so pumped for next year. There is only one thing I love more than watching the eagles and skins lose, it's waiting for the cowboy haters to try and come up with an excuse as to why we suck.

he looks like guard to me in videos I saw. I think what surprised me is he didn't look much smaller than Tyron Smith.

I think he has more upside at OT than Martin(I'm not sold on Martin at OT and hope he forever stays at OG) and probably more than Free. His upside at RT to me is above average to very good. His upside at OG is All-Pro though. I would let him compete at both, but would much prefer him at LG. If he can even get close to his potential, running between the tackles will be near impossible to stop.

I think that given Leary's youth and Free's age and injury history, I can see why folks would love for Collins to establish himself at right tackle. No doubting that.

But, to me, it looks like his skills and ability would be maximized and his weaknesses minimized, if he lined up at guard.

So, because of that, I'm very much hoping that at least one of Green, Gibson, and Weems shows themselves worthy of playing right/swing tackle this year and for the future.

We can give the RT some help with TE's and RB's chipping the end.
Collins should 100% play guard.

Personally, I think he'll be a force at left guard right out of the gate. Nothing against Ron Leary who is a very good player too. If we get right tackle in good hands, we're looking at an embarrassment of riches on the offensive line, rather than the just plain embarrassment of only a few years ago.

We will have quality starters across the board, and quality depth backing them up and challenging to start. A great problem to have.

Literally we are set for the next 10 years if we can keep them all happy $ wise.
I for the first time in twenty years or so, feel like we will hoist a Championship in the next couple of years.

Agreed. And the way they get along and work together, I think they have a vested interest in staying together that may actually result in players making financial considerations based on that. Much like the atmosphere worked in recruiting Collins, it may work to some degree in 'keeping the band together'.

Me too.
I've long complained that we have neglected building this team at the line of scrimmage. To finally start doing that is exciting. The Cowboys have assembled a dominant offensive line (hopefully, defense as well), and the league never knew what hit them.
They thought they were getting the same old mistake-prone Romo and the same vanilla Cowboys offense that specialized in flash and dash.
But it's meat and potatoes with a splash of gravy on the side.
And now fans are jealous because we added a prime cut of steak (Collins) to our already sizzling line, and they know we're about to eat their lunch.

Smash mouth at its best.

Buffalo sent Rex Ryan alone. We sent most of the offensive line, Romo and invited Collins to Jerry's personal house for dinner. The mere thought of the comparison makes me :lmao:

The money will make keeping them all impossible
That's just the reality. You have to keep developing guys to replace the free agents. With smith, Martin and Fred being the best 3 at this point I suspect the other 2 spots is where you see guys replaced as they become free agents. Just can't have all 5 online spots being in their second contracts. Way too expensive
But that's a ways down the road

By the time they are all on 2nd contracts, Romo will be gone and likely replaced by a QB on a rookie contract.
