By the time they are all on 2nd contracts, Romo will be gone and likely replaced by a QB on a rookie contract.

Maybe - or we might see a situation like with Alex Smith or Peyton Manning or Drew Brees - for whatever reason, a great veteran is available and wants to play with the group we have.

I think he's a good RT and a great OG.

Some of the scouts that were profiling him seemed to agree with you but the team will know for sure when all is said and done. If he excels at both, so much the better. Versatility is really a valuable commodity in pro football.

If there is one rookie on the team I have zero concern about - it's Collins. He will find a way to crack the starting lineup. If not this year - next year he is a lock. He is a BEAST who, after pancaking HIS opponent, moves on to his line mates' opponent. Jerry and the staff should really don masks after the way they robbed THAT train.

Which will help immensely in development.

I do wonder how often these QB's drafted near the top of the 1st don't pan out because the teams they go to are perennially terrible, and/or have offensive lines that shake their confidence early and often. Trying to adjust to the speed of the NFL is difficult when you're trying not to get killed by the biggest guys you've ever played against.

Also, on that same token, a veteran QB may be willing to come to Dallas a little cheaper knowing they'll have a dominant OL and a legitimate shot at a ring.

Either way, the state of our OL has a lot of positives.

That's very true
Just don't see them having five online guys on second contracts because of the cost for the position
Now Collins helps a lot because he's behind the others in years and if green could be a solid rt that's another guy with extra years but to me that's what you have to do with some of the guys, just keep replacing them. Not the elite guys like Martin, smith or Fred, but because they are elite player to me the other two spots you have to keep replacing ever few years

Agreed. And the way they get along and work together, I think they have a vested interest in staying together that may actually result in players making financial considerations based on that. Much like the atmosphere worked in recruiting Collins, it may work to some degree in 'keeping the band together'.

Next great line " The Band of Brothers " ...............

I sure hope so. I think it would be revolutionary and unprecedented to have a group or better yet, a team that was heavily involved in working together, playing together, and looking out for one another and truly exemplifying the team concept. Not just on the field, but off of it too. If they truly want to build something, that could mean individuals taking a bit less money when it comes time for a teammate to get paid.

It's likely a longshot, but I think it would be a great thing.

Me too.
I've long complained that we have neglected building this team at the line of scrimmage. To finally start doing that is exciting. The Cowboys have assembled a dominant offensive line (hopefully, defense as well), and the league never knew what hit them.
They thought they were getting the same old mistake-prone Romo and the same vanilla Cowboys offense that specialized in flash and dash.
But it's meat and potatoes with a splash of gravy on the side.
And now fans are jealous because we added a prime cut of steak (Collins) to our already sizzling line, and they know we're about to eat their lunch.

Smash mouth at its best.
You just made me hungry with all this steak talk.

I don't think we know yet. And this is not meant for you, but I don't know why people are opposed to him being RT. Imagine you can kill that speed rush from that side, and if you run to that side, you can basically mow down anything on the right side with him leading the way. And if you need power to the left, he can always pull from the RT position and drive right up the left inside. Keeping people off the QB is the main concern right now IMO. Our middle of the line is rock solid.
