If you love football and can keep your health why wouldn’t you play as long as possible?

There guys, with their wealth and access to health care, should easily live well into their eighties and be in decent shape.

He's already going-to easily own the Cowboys records, but could move up the charts overall

I do think if he keeps playing the way he has this season it will cause us to use these extra picks on other players instead of seizing this rare opportunity to go up and get our next franchise QB.

I don't know who told him to lose weight or if he just decided to himself.. but its looking good so far.

So does every starting quarterback in the NFL.

Most of them come to the realistic conclusion that they can no longer play at their previous level and retire.

Some linger. They refuse to accept the limits that their age and wear on the body has imposed on their abilities. They either get unceremoniously cut from a team or there are no phone calls after their contract expires.

I've only known of one quarterback that retired at his peak and that was Roger Staubach. He led the NFL in passer rating for the fourth season in his final year and didn't announce his retirement until. March 31st. We read it in the paper on Monday, April 1st and thought it was an Aprils Fool gag but TV sports news confirmed it.

Apparently, he had suffered several concussions (prior to any concussions protocol) and it was an escalating issue.
