You always felt confident when Bailey stepped up to kick (up until his last year here). With Maher, I assume he’s going to miss. It’s weird feeling that way nowadays. Even Maher doesn’t look confident when he looks up at the goal posts before the snap.

Any orthopedist will tell you that it takes @ a year for a serious hip injury to completely heal — especially if you’re gonna by kicking FGs for a living.

When Bailey went out in 2017, they shoulda shut him down for the season and signed somebody off the street, as we weren’t a serious contender that year anyway. Dan came back too soon, couldn’t get it together and got cut the next year, basically because he toughed it out and played hurt for the team.

A dumb move by our FO.

Exactly man. They got rid of bailey instead of putting him on IR. His contract wasn't even that big of a hit on the team. Always felt that was dirty move by the joneses. I hope he doesnt hit us with a game winning field goal once we have to play Minnesota lol.

Imagine maher missing multiple field goals while bailey drills his. Many people will be sick to their stomachs

Im sorry but Bailey was done.

He was less accurate as the season went along and in the playoffs. Also, he became a crutch to where Garrett wouldnt go for it on 4th and 1 to settle for Bailey. At least with Maher, we would go for it, problem is the playcalling.

Kicker is a fickle position and one you can't play around with. Good that he turned it around. Took him two years to do it tho as he was still trash last year in Minny.

Not surprised. He was great and young enough to come back after his groin injury. There was no guarantee that he would, but I'm not surprised that he managed it. He's a machine.

I would've placed Bailey on IR that season instead of just cutting him. Give him time to rest and get rid of Maher ASAP. Maher is the anti bailey. He's erratic, unpredictable, and completely unreliable.
His last season with the Cowboys he was 75% and looked terrible in the offseason and then kicked 75% again for the Vikings last year. They were paying him over 3 million as well. The vikings were so happy with him this offseason they asked him to take a paycut and traded for someone else's kicker.
