Deion should make some room , and decline his induction .

If it came down to the point where it was his WR- man ...and the goal line,... Deion then would make that critical open field tackle.

if its a RB coming ..and Deion happens to be in the middle of a pack of tacklers, .then he'd gladly slow down and step aside for those tacklers

But Deion is right to a point. ... how are these Harry Carsons getting in the Hall of Fame ?
and now this talk of Eli Manning possibility because he had rare moments vs NE over a totality career ?

People are afraid of the Bradys, Brees, Rodgers ... nobody isn't afraid of a damn Eli Manning.

Hall of Fame needs to be cream of the crop.

I will say also how the HOF voters have long been neglecting the old schoolers of the 70's - such as Drew Pearson (who was an All Decade player)

Wha? Plunkett was a journeyman Qb who had way more INTs than TD passes. No way. Danny White was a better QB.

I don't have a problem with it only because it's such a shorter career versus all other pro sports. Someone like Terrell Davis, give the man his due. He ran his heart out the few years he had the physical ability to do it, won 2 championships, and that's what the game is about.

Yet Joe Namath made the HOF on the strength of one game?

Some of you all need to STOP! I am a die hard Cowboy fan....so I love Troy Aikman. But you do not have to dismiss Deion to uplift Troy. I call it like I see it....and Deion was a much better CB than Troy was a QB. But they were both great. Difference? Deion is an ALL TIME GREAT!

"What the game is all about" does not mean mediocre players should be in the HOF.

    He's right.

While leaving out too many that actually belong.

I'm not sure which players you're referring to, Terrell Davis is the one that seems to be talked about in this thread, and Eli Manning is the one Deion mentions in the linked article.

Davis was the best running back in the NFL for several years and a Super Bowl MVP. That's not mediocre.

Manning won 2 Super Bowls, was Mr. Clutch against one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history. Definitely not the best QB in the league each year, but not mediocre.

Deion was borderline? What are you smoking?

In 14 seasons in the NFL, he never had a season without multiple picks. They quit throwing it his way after his rookie year, and he still put up huge numbers.

    Way too many.

The problem is that they feel obligated to make each year's class a thing, so they lower standards some years.

Define "several." TD only had 3 good seasons and was seamlessly replaced by Olandis Gary. He shouldn't sniff the HoF.

Eli is a career .500 quarterback who always ranked near the middle of the league in passer rating - only had 1 top-10 performance. He is entirely mediocre, and skews more towards bad than good. He's what, the 15th-best quarterback of his era? Off the top of my head...Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, Romo, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Warner, Palmer, Ryan, Stafford, McNabb, Newton. Even Mike Vick had a passer rating of 86.5 in 2013 at 33 years old. Eli only surpassed that number 6 times in his career, and his average was lower lol.

I mean should Joe Flacco be in? He actually played good in their playoff run.
