GOODELL UNHAPPY WITH PACMAN’S RETURN VISIT TO VEGAS
Posted by Mike Florio on June 1, 2008, 9:59 a.m.

Overlooked in the question of whether the attempt to obtain a felony arrest warrant for unpaid gambling markers will affect the attempt of Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones to win reinstatement to the NFL is whether the mere fact that Jones was back in Las Vegas and hanging out at a casino will hurt his chances.

As one league source advised us, Commissioner Roger Goodell is not happy that Jones was back in Vegas. “It means Jones was in Vegas hanging out after the shooting incident and after Jones told Roger that he was changing his ways,” the source said.

But whether Goodell’s displeasure with Pacman’s behavior will be enough to keep him out remains to be seen. The fact that Pacman’s rights are now held by one of the most powerful of the 32 persons to whom Goodell reports is the one fact that most strongly favors Pacman’s desire to get back into the game.

“The best thing Jones has going for him is the other Jones,” the source said.

And the other Jones is Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys.

A decision on Pacman’s status could come any day, and is expected to be made during the week of June 2.

This is beyond stupid. I can almost understand not being happy if he was still going to strip clubs. But the guy can't even visit the city of Las Vegas?

Goodell is a turd.

The tyrant continues to whine about every place Pacman goes, while Bill is still taping other teams, and laughing

I think you need to consider the source of the story

your description fits the source to a "T" as in "T U R D"

Thank goodness this source stepped forward to offer this world-shattering, ultra-secret info. The fate of the NFL itself hanged in the balance. Thank you Mr. or Ms. Source.

The term unnamed source used to indicate some sense of important journalistic value. Now, if you wish to quote someone for practically saying nothing at all, you label him or her as a 'mysterious source'. oOoOoO. spooky.

Next time from ReportersRUs:

Chicken Crosses Road/Suffered Hit-and-Run.

A source told us, "Feathers went everywhere".

/sarcasm off

A source within the CSI team stated that the blood didn't test as human.

If Pacman really was in Vegas recently, this guy's got to be one of the dumbest players in (if he ever gets reinstated) in the NFL. Some might think Pacman being back in Vegas as a no brainer and something Goodell has no right to consider, but remember Vegas is the scene of Pacman's worst off field activity. A club's security guy was shot as a byproduct of Pacman's throwing money around, etc. Common sense says he should have been somewhere else. Why throw a trip to Vegas in the face of the Commissioner which is how it could be seen by him? Remember Pacman went to a strip club the night before meeting with the Commish. There must be a million places in the States he could have visited and who were the people he was with? If it was his old cronies who helped get him in trouble, then you better believe the Commish must consider it. I do wonder if Vegas trip occurred when Pacman was still a Titan or since he became a Cowboy.

I wish I had the inclination to find it, but I could've sworn that I read Jerry saying the league already knew about the debt. And if that's the case, then he had to have known when it occurred.

It's funny that Tatupu was arrested for DUI and very little was made of it in the media... yet Adam Jones gets crap for visiting Las Vegas.

What does Goodell want? Does he want Jones to just sit at home, stare at the wall and do nothing? If he's gonna be pissy about it, then Goodell needs to send out a memo telling players everything he doesn't like the players doing during the off-season during their off-time.

Jones should stick to Branson, Mo. ...maybe Roger will be ok w/ that.

Firsts, thats why the commissioner goofball goodell should reinstate pacman now, so he can be in dallas, working out with his teammates, getting in shape and being directed by jerry jones where to live, eat, etc..

Second, it shows how goofball goodell treats players, terribly, but someone that cheats, lies like belichick the cheater, shows goofball goodell is showing favortism to the patriots, but anyone else, he comes down on them.

Third, if newspapers and media were to do a story on pacman how he is trying to change his life, how he lost one of his homes, how he is paying for his mothes house, her bills, one of his cousins bills and house.

Yet, how goodell the goofball is denying him a chance to get back into football, sure, it was pacmans fault for getting in trouble, but need i remind you, he was never charged with any serious crime. Just intent, being in wrong places, and around wrong people has been pacmans trouble.

So, if a person like goofball goodell cant see that in Dallas he would have right atmosphere to be around good guys, staff, deion sanders, calviin hill, a preacher-cant think of his name. To turn the tables on goodell the tyrant goofball, who shows favortism to cheating and lying patriots, but is really hard on players. Need I remind you, mark schelerth said so, and so did a QB that used to play for the Saints.

If you start to show how terrrible and strict goodell is to players, and denying them a chance to recover and change their lives, but by keeping a player away from OTAs, practice and workouts, your hurting his lifestyle and future as a player and a human being. Then, I say do that, show how goodell really is towards players, how hard and strict he is, turn the tables on goodell, make him out to be the bad boy now.

Publicity and media scrunity can do this, and when ex football players like mark say gooodell is treating players badly, compared to coaches whom he says are to be held more accoutable, then you would get more icing on the cake to get the heat on goodell and change his tactics.

Adam Jones is expected to be a witness in the case. There could be good reasons for him returning to Las Vegas, perhaps at the insistence of the prosecution.

The responses to this article, which comes from the National Enquirer of football publications, is just cracking me the hell up.

First off, nowhere is it documented that Pacman went to Vegas recently. No one can speculate whether the marker debt was incurred at his original Vegas visit or subsequent to his visit(s) with Goodell.

Secondly, it wasn't Goodell quoting that he wasn't happy with Pacman. It was some unnamed mysterious source. And as others have already pointed out...that is just bogus.

Pac-man shouldn't have been (IMO) in Las Vegas. It is another hit against him.

Gambling and being a professional sports athlete doesn't look good especially when you are suspended and everyone is looking at you and judging your character.

Hopefully, this was before Jones had a change-of-heart and began to understand the gravity of his situation.
