You need to look up the EXACT definition of the crime in question. In watsons case, his actions didn't meet the definition of sexual assault. In your example, someone cornering another, keeping them there and then doing as you described, that would be a crime. None of the accusations against Watson said he used force, threats of violence or actual violence.
So take out the, "cornering," part. Let's say the waitress is taking your order. You ask her what's good and she says, "x." You say, "I didn't see that on the menu, could you show me?" She leans over to point at the menu and one of your buddies next to you grabs her breast. Is that assault?
What would you classify what was alleged, i.e. forcing her to touch his junk? My take is that the physical touching is what crosses the line.
