Well it doesn't make a lot of sense that you have no plans to not have him and say that you think he could play another 5 years and win a Superbowl. You're not planning on him starting in Dallas in 3 or 4 years.

Such weird comments come from this guy sometimes.

On Thursday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, that he hasn’t given any thought to Romo wearing a different one. Jones also said he believes Romo can play another five years and win a Super Bowl.

Doesn't sound like Jerrah is on the same page as Jr. Who doesn't want to upset Dak in any way.

What is he supposed to say? "Yeah his butt is gone next year" I don't think so

He's just trying not to rock the boat too much

Or take the man at his word.
Dak is the man this season.
Open competition comes next camp.
That is one way to interpret Romo's words.
I have got Dak's back and Daks has my back.
Winner in meritocracy is the starter, while loser is the happy supportive backup.
There will be no backstabbing with the trust ...
One can hope...

It's called talking with a forked tongue. This guy can't give a straight answer if he wanted to.

I actually believe Jerry has no intention of letting Romo go.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said new backup quarterback Tony Romo has put the team first by accepting his role behind rookie starter Dak Prescott. But, Jones also believes Romo still has many good years left in him.

Jones said he can see the Cowboys sticking with Romo over the next few years despite his contract and new backup role.

"It is very tenable for me to see on a long-term basis with us being strong at quarterback with these two," Jones said. "That's where we are."

Jones also said Prescott has earned the right to have a bad game or a bad few games without the rookie having to look over his shoulder and worry about Romo coming into the game.

My own gut feeling the only way Romo stays is if he has the opportunity to compete for the job. It has also been reported that Romo asked the "Brass" for the chance to compete.

He is playing the stock game. 9 is on the trading block already, JJ is just dressing up the display.

Like when this was posted before, I'm not sure what he's supposed to say. One, we're in the middle of the season, so doubt many off season plans are being thought about. Two, it doesn't help Tony's trade value to make the team sound eager to move him.

"Linehan's getting old, Tony, and although he's doing well this year we are remember how inept the offense was last year with you. You know, Jason got his start as an offensive coordinator..."

He is only saying that to not try the price down. Romo is gone, if you have you franchise QB and is leading your team to 8-1 why would you put him on the bench. You move on and let the young QB take over and build around him. If Dak wasn't playing as well then ya you put Romo in and develop Dak from the bench......that's not the case though
