"No matter how big, tall ..." seems to be a direct reference to Lewis. Of course, that could be just how he interpreted "clean slate."

Otherwise, it's "Hey, you short guys, you've got a chance to start, too."

Clean slate, fresh start, a new lease on life. When a staff coaches you to play the hands of the receiver and not the ball you're working from a disadvantage, especially with the NFL's new glue glove. Your best chance is to keep the ball from hitting his hands and you can't do that without turning your head and playing the ball.

It's a new day, for everyone :flagwave:

Seems a good idea to me. Let them compete. Best players on the field on game day.

I was surprised to see JD on PFT, and it was cool the coaches may've said best man wins. I'll believe them when I see the best out there. Either way #26 is ready to break out.

Glad the old coaching regime is gone. That will be very good for us.

Sure seems like this staff is looking for the same type of corners that Richard loves.

Chido is our best corner. In many ways, he was better than Jones last season.

they hired Nolan to be DC.

he hasn’t coached as DC since the nightmare in Atlanta.

he was hired as DC because he gave MIke the OC job at 49ers.

    they are big buddies.

Yeah, but it could be worse. He could be Marinelli.

"Seniority with the Cowboys means nothing to me. Let everyone know there's a new Sheriff in town!"

This is not a benefit to Lewis. Seniority was one of the things he had going for himself here. If it's a clean slate his play in the past doesn't matter. Now it becomes even more how he fits the mold of what they want. And he doesn't.

Clean slate seems vague but yes. That doesn’t mean time. After this season, I don’t see us retaining all 3 of you (Chido, Lewis, Brown). May the best men win.

I admire the message that Jourdan Lewis is trying to convey here. A new staff is infinitely more likely to judge their talent based upon their own impressions and certainly not what the previous staff thought. Such a perspective is bound to be a breath of fresh air for a guy like himself. Everyone will be afforded an opportunity to prove himself worthy in his own right. I, too, see a "clean slate" as a very good thing. It's always important how they adapt to a new scheme, as individuals. They'll now be judged with a keen eye to the present and not the past.

He was better at playing defense with his back to the QB, for sure.
