The Scouting Combine often becomes an informational free-for-all, with plenty of nuggets and rumors (often incorrect) floating around — and with plenty of swarming reporters who are looking to secure raises and/or better jobs tempted to apply a fire-aim-ready approach, all in the hopes of “being first.” In most cases, the only risk is being wrong. When it…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2315112&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

Interesting speculation. Only good tidbit. Media knew before Ro's camp.

off season  is ready, keep a fresh supply ready....

Well, this will be "another" story line to watch. But I'm not into soap opera's. So will sit back, wait and see what transpires. Will not speculate, or comment...too much...

I did find one line interesting in a funny way. "...it would be wrong for the NFL to expect a reporter to violate journalistic principles in the name of an internal investigation."
We are talking about Ian Rappaport here. I'm not sure he knows what journalistic principles are.

Yet another black eyed incident for the NFL...much less that it is purposely targeted at the media whipping boy, Dallas Cowboys.

In such matters, I tend to side with the journalist and feel they should be shielded from backlash as a result of doing THEIR JOB of 'reporting'. If the NFL has leaks - it's incumbent upon THEM to shore up their program. The onus shouldn't be placed upon the reporter to divulge the 'source'. This is often the method of action when an inconvenient truth arises: prosecute the messenger and try to bury the headline.

It would be nice if we could rely on the journalists themselves to actually have sources, but news today is so driven by sensationalism and click-bait, it has become very difficult to weed out the stories where reporters are breaking news and other stories where they are making the news. (making it up). I don't know what the case is with this particular item, but I've seen it enough times from Rappaport and others, when these supposed "sources" basically turn out to be random supposition in comments sections, speculative tweets, or the voices in their own heads. These days, reporters lie constantly under the guise of calling it a rumor. Then that rumor gets re-tweeted, and suddenly, the source is now that tweet for another reporter to pick up on. Repeating a lie doesn't make it more credible. It's a corrupt and false way of manufacturing news. The line between reporting and fiction has blurred to the point that I assume just about everything is a lie until I see proof from multiple outlets.

I don't disagree with you. It's incumbent upon the recipient of 'news' to approach EVERYTHING with a healthy amount of skepticism. If it truly interests you, dig into it - background it... but, above all, THINK while you're digging. Much of the news/garbage we are fed doesn't even add up on the surface.

I recently fell for that fake 'Romo injured in car wreck' internet meme. when I think I'm beyond gullibilty... is exactly when I'm at my most most vulnerable.

this answers the question why many of us werent aware of a 4 game fine before. In this age of news leaks being an email away I'm surprised this hasnt happened sooner. I think the bigger story than the leak is that on top of all the flags McClain has this added on. He needs help. Hope we just move on

When you turn on ESPN and two or three guys are scrolling through their phones on live TV, we've definitely crossed the line. The race to be first has trumped the need to be right.

The funny thing is that they appear to be right on this one if McClain indeed failed a third test.

Why would they shore up their program if they want the leaks to get out?
