Finally, a proposal on a new drug policy arrived from the NFL. The NFLPA board of player representatives, however, decided not to vote on it.

“There was no vote tonight,” NFLPA spokesman George Atallah told PFT via text message. “There are still unresolved issues. We will continue to work toward a comprehensive agreement on the drug policies.”

The NFLPA convened a conference call of the 32 player representatives in order to vote on the league’s proposal. The matter wasn’t put to a vote, which indicates that union leadership did not believe the proposal was strong enough to merit consideration by the full body of representatives.

Negotiations presumably will continue. It’s unclear when or if a new agreement will be reached...

Not surprised. I would like to have Scandrick back but I see the full four game being served.

Whatever players think they'll gain by getting reductions is weed-related suspensions and in weed-related testing in general is going to completely overshadowed by the number of guys busted for HGH.

That's why the NFLPA has done everything it can to avoid agreeing to a new drug policy.

I've seen numerous estimates that anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 of the players in the NFL use HGH.

I see this dragging out a few more games. Then would not be surprised it's tabled until the off season.

Rumblings that a vote could be imminent and reinstatement is coming with it.

Scooped Gordon last week. What a steal that will be.

Saw it on reddit and twitter, fwiw.

I don't want to hear about how the Cowboys are unlucky.

Scandrick is getting to skip half, if not more, of his suspension. And Brent was suspended for less than a year. Lucky, indeed.

Don't forget Dez hits his mom. No suspension.

We've dodged bullets.

Intent comes into play in these situations. Ray Rice had malicious intent. Josh Brent was just stupid.

Rice easily could have killed that girl or given her brain damage.

True and then I would be just as disgusted if he came back. My complaint is the arbitrariness of the punishments. There is no logical or uniform application of the heavy (or light ) hand of justice. Shared culpability or not Brown being sober or not, Brent chose to drink and drive that night and chose not to use the multiple tools in place to prevent just such an occurrence from happening.
