That's very true, but unfortunately, most actions today by the NFL will not show any financial repercussions for a while, though when it happens, it will take a while to reverse as well.

The NFL has a superstar problem as in there are not a lot of them these days. Fewer superstar quarterbacks, fewer superstar running backs, etc. There are very good players and well known players, but there are few superstar players now. Peyton Manning is gone. Brady will be gone soon. Adrian Peterson is no longer what he was and fewer teams focus on the run these days like they did in the past so there will be even fewer long term superstar running backs. Then, on top of that, the NFL suspends one superstar last year with Brady and does the same again this year with Elliott. What makes the Elliott suspension even worse is they are potentially destroying his career early on where at least Brady is nearing the end of his.

Agreed. Ex-stars like Peyton , Favre, Montana, etc. still get big endorsement deals and commercials are running nationwide on multiple networks. Seems very few current "stars" are getting similar deals.

I feel a players strike may be coming

I honestly wonder how much anyone outside of our bubble cares.

I know I certainly didn't raise hell over The Saints and Patriots situations and no one gave a crap when we got fined 10 mil of cap space for violating a non-existant cap.

I've had people ask me, knowing I'm a big Cowboys fan, "I hear Zeke got suspended?". They have no idea what's going on beyond that they aren't sure if they want to draft him in fantasy.

I know this... By the NFLPA pushing this so hard, Zeke better lube up, cause the league will make it hurt NOW even harder
I have a similar concern. My worry is the case will become the League vs the Players Union and Zeke will get caught in the middle of this mess. Although he has already been labeled and punished so I guess they cant do much worse...But I have to wonder if the league will dig in even harder in an attempt to avoid publically losing a battle with the Union...and unfortunately when it becomes Union vs League the owners who may support Zeke and Jerry may side back with the League to avoid weakening their position in the future... tough one.

And the whole, nasty business will be a distraction all year. Remember the non sense with Brady. I am already sick of it.

Florio is a lawyer and loves to chime in on every would-be legal issue and he is very much pro-NFLPA/player side so anything he writes that favors the Cowboys has less to do with the team and more to do with a legal argument he is making.

Agreed @Reality...I concur with most of his legal arguments regarding the NFLPA vs. the NFL.

I don't think so .. I think the NFLPA is going to leverage this as much as possible though to gain more public support. The more they gain fan support, the more the NFL owners lose fan support.
It was always weird that fans tend to side with management, not labor anyway.

Wow the NFL has really gotten themselves in a big mess. Goddell deserves whatever he's going to get. Call it Karma if you may.

The commissioner will eventually succumb to public opinion and outrage. This is the beginning of the end for him.

What he gets I believe is $44M/year. If that's Karma, serve me some please. ;)

NFLPA "seething" over accusation of victim shaming

The NFL took the Ezekiel Elliott case to the proverbial next level on Wednesday by accusing the NFL Players Association of “spreading derogatory information to the media” about Tiffany Thompson, who has accused Elliott of domestic violence. The NFLPA publicly denounced the accusation in no uncertain terms.

Privately, the NFLPA feels even more strongly about the situation. As one source with knowledge of the situation put it, union leadership is “seething” over the situation.

Part of the problem, as multiple other sources explained it to PFT, is that the information that has surfaced in recent days regarding Thompson comes directly from the 160-page investigation report created by the league. Someone in possession of the report has leaked portions of it to three different media outlets — the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Yahoo Sports, and the website owned and operated by the NFL.

This is standard operating procedure for the people that Goodell put in charge of the Domestic Violence oversight. They are high-powered and agenda driven, which scored him plenty of brownie points when he appointed them, but now all the players that get dragged in front of them are facing a stacked deck.

Without judging the content of his posts, it sure seems to me from the prominence he is giving the story -- and the fact that he is issuing repeated "breaking news" that really isn't -- that Florio is dead set on making amends for the Dez Bryant shenanigans he pulled.

He knows he messed that one up.
I doubt the Dez issue is a factor in this.

I didn't like them going after the Saints for Bountygate and I hated their suspensions especially Payton. So I don't know about others but I've been against this for sometime.
