On one hand I agree... on the other I recognize that is completely hypocritical of me as I sit as work getting paid to read/post on this message board.

Message boards were just the forerunner of twitter....

Now instead of reading all posts you sort of follow the people you most like/enjoy/respect or have manlove for.

If someone wanted your personal info, they could get it. Just having a computer with internet makes you very very very vulnerable. ;) So best to get rid of your computer, buy lots of water and canned foods and live in your basement...best to be safe you know!

Not necessarily. My computer(s) security is tighter then fort knox. Also, if you don't believe that twitter and its ilk increases your risk of being exploited, then we have to agree to disagree.

True, but I have three monitors and the zone help kills the time in between file loads. :) Yes that is my story and I am sticking to it.

I was just messing with you. But honestly, I think living your life as a hermit is a sad existence. To never share yourself with others because you fear the worst. I mean yea if you are posting your social security number on Twitter then i can agree you are putting yourself at some risk. But come on, scare tactics are out dated.

do you surf at work?

i am at the moment but i wouldn't imagine my boss would be too pleased if they knew. if i was caught i would expect to be reprimanded, while i wouldn't expect to be fined over a grand i don't earn the money that they do.

:signmast:

I don't understand while people get all worked up over twitter/facebook/*******. I have found old friends and other things that would have likely never happened if it weren't for some of these sites. I did try twitter and found it to not be worth my time, but it is apparently working for many people.

I bet sometime long ago, people were saying the same things about these darned internet message boards!

And, on a side note, no matter how secure you think your network is, people can and will get into it should they choose to.

Hermit? Dude you crack me up. Long before the interweeb there was a little thing called making friends the old fashion way, like in person. As a result, I have tons or friends and acquaintances. Frankly, I find it more sad that the only form of socialization for some comes from their interactions with the 0's and 1's that comprise their digital existence.

Again, no scare tactics as I wish no harm on any one who uses the aforementioned services. Just be careful, also since it is clear that your knowledge is pretty limited when it comes to matters such as computer security, you might want to take a course or two. Just saying...
