No, he wasn't. He said, "it's a done deal." The deal is not done, it is still working to get done.

It's a shame that you don't understand the difference.

Again he did not say that. he said 'dallas already pulled that trigger.'

I agree, I think Deion's comment was misunderstood. I don't think he meant the deal was done. I think he meant the Cowboys had already decided they wanted him and what they were willing to do to get him.

I guess if he keeps saying its imminent, once it happens he can say he was right all along :)

Also, think he has some erroneous info there on our draft pick status, unless he isnt talking about this yr.

Cowboys considerably closer to deal for Pacman Jones
By Adam Schefter | NFL Network

The on-and-off trade talks between Dallas and Tennessee are on again, in a big way.

The Cowboys and Titans spent Saturday going back and forth on proposals, getting considerably closer to a trade that would send talented, but troubled, cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones to Dallas.

One person familiar with the talks said they were nearing a deal, but it was not done yet. However, it now sounds as if it could be done this week, well before the April 26-27 draft.

Just last week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said talks were at a standstill, but those talks were quickly jumpstarted over the weekend with a series of phone calls between the two teams.

Dallas had been offering one of their two sixth-round picks.

Tennessee has been holding out, refusing to budge for anything less than a fourth-round pick. Plus, Dallas wanted to attach conditions to the trade in which it could receive a draft pick back from Tennessee if Jones got into more trouble in his new city.

Now, the two sides are nearing compromise. The deal could be completed by Tuesday, which also happens to be the time that Jones' agent, Manny Arora, said Jones plans to apply for reinstatement to the NFL. It was one year ago this past week that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Jones.

Goodell plans to review whether to reinstate Jones shortly before training camp, however Arora is likely to push for an even quicker decision.

Should the trade become official, it would not change Dallas' draft strategy in any way. The Cowboys would proceed as if they did not have Jones, as if they still had a need at cornerback, knowing they could not count on Jones to be reinstated.

Too bad the trade couldn't be like a baseball trade: "for a player to be named later." Although, I often wonder how the baseball teams trade for a "player to be named later."

Give the Titans a fith rd pick this year. In all likelihood, the Cowboys' 5th, 6th, and 7th rd picks probably won't make the team this year. The Cowboys 4th rd pick might have a fifty-fifty chance barring injury to some starter.

Deion didn't say the "deal was done". In response to Rich Eison saying "we will see on draft day if Dallas pulls the trigger on the PacMan trade" Deion responded immediately, "that trigger has been pulled".

Pacman trade talks heating up again
By Terry McCormick, tmccormick@nashvillecitypaper.com

Trade talks involving the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys for suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones have heated up once again.

After being quiet in the days after the NFL owners meetings last week, trade talks appear to be once again gathering steam and the sides are getting closer, according to sources.

A league source indicated to The City Paper late last week that a trade involving Jones was “still likely” to happen, despite a statement from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones late last week that he did not know whether the deal would happen.

One of Jones’ representatives acknowledged that the two sides are talking again after both teams could not reach an agreement at the owners meetings early last week.

“It is my understanding that some new dialogue has taken place, but I’m not sure to what extent,” said Nashville attorney Worrick Robinson, who is one of Jones’ agents, along with Manny Arora.

The NFL Network reported that a deal could happen soon. However, there are still issues that must be resolved.

Two hurdles that have stalled the deal from the start remain to be cleared to make a trade plausible. The first is compensation, where the Titans are asking for a fourth-round pick and another choice. The Cowboys' offer has increased in the past couple of days but not yet to the Titans' satisfaction.

The second item of business that could keep the trade from being completed is the matter of money owned to Jones by the Titans and the club’s request that the cornerback pay back part of the bonus money from his original contract.

The Titans apparently owe Jones around $1.25 million in roster bonus money that he earned before being suspended a year ago. However, the Titans are interested in trying to recoup a portion of Jones’ original signing bonus _ some of the $13 million in guarantees they gave him. Those guarantees, however, were not paid in a lump sum signing bonus, but in installments, some of which are apparently still owed to the cornerback.

Regarding that obstacle, the Titans can trade Jones without the money issues being resolved, and both sides would reserve the right to pursue a grievance against each other even if he were no longer Tennessee’s property. However, both sides would prefer final closure in regards to the money before a trade is finalized.

There is also, of course, the matter of when Jones will be reinstated to the NFL from his suspension.

Jones has applied for reinstatement twice already and been denied by Commissioner Roger Goodell. The first time came after 10 games of the 2007 season. Then, in February, Jones’ suspension was extended after Goodell had said it would be reviewed at the end of the Titans’ season in January. Jones’ representatives were told that his situation would be reviewed sometime before training camp.

Arora said he will apply for reinstatement sometime before the draft and told The City Paper last week that the application is expected to come this week, perhaps as early as Tuesday.

This logic would also mean that I was right 2 weeks ago in my "Period, Point Blank" thread.

Sorry, I wasn't right. We've all known for weeks and weeks that Dallas is pursuing this deal. All Deion was saying is the same thing anyone else has said. There is interest and the deal will probably happen.

Instead of propping up Deion we should be propping up the entire football world including 452 posters on this forum who have predicted a deal will get done.

The poster I responded to has maintained (erroneously as usual) that the deal is already done because Deion says so. No, the deal is not already done. If it was done he would be a Dallas Cowboy.

Period...point...blank.

Have you had problems with him in the past? Just seems like you are over-reacting and jumping the guy when all he did was say something innocuous.

No, he's just sensitive.

I actually like juckie. He doesn't take it well if I disagree with him. Thus the "old fella" stuff.

3rd party perspective - Hostile seems condescendingly out of line
