We've posted several items regarding the content of Wednesday's conference call from Falcons president and Competition Committee co-chair Rich McKay regarding the proposals that will be made to ownership for changes to the rules.

Here's a summary of the stuff we haven't already mentioned:

1. The do-over rule adopted last season for balls that strike the mammoth video board hovering over the floor of Cowboys Stadium, known here and elsewhere as "Jumbotronicus," will be proposed as a permanent fix for the potential problem, which never occurred in eight regular-season games or in the postseason contest played there.

2. Dead ball fouls occurring at the end of the first half and the fourth quarter would carry over to the third quarter and overtime, respectively.

3. Instant replay would be used to review game-clock questions on the last play of the second and fourth quarters (and presumably overtime). This rule was adopted by the NFL for the 2009 postseason.

4. The player numbering rules would be modified to acknowledge the fact that many linebackers with numbers in the 50s play defensive end in a 3-4 scheme.

5. In the final minute of the game (and presumably the half), a 10-second runoff would apply when a play is reversed via replay in a way that makes the final outcome a situation in which the clock would have continued to run.

6. The Colts and the Cowboys would be required to declare the window and curtain configurations at their stadiums 90 minutes before kickoff, the same rule that applied to whether a retractable roof will be open or closed.

And that's it. If you missed the other stuff regarding overtime, helmetless players, snappers, and defenseless receivers, scroll or use the search box.

is that really necessary? i don't understand all the complaining. it's not like we left the curtains open when they were headed that direction and then changed it once the quarter ended and the directions were reversed. both teams played under the same conditions? quit being a baby. do open field stadiums need to declare where the sun will be?

And according to Jerry, the curtain is not used for football games. Just concerts and other events.

No, Florio, it's only know as Jumbotronicus in your stupid website. Everywhere else it's "JerryTron" or "Megatron" or something to that effect. Leave it alone, it's not going to take off.

Mike Smith of the Falcons when the sun suddenly appeared through the window after halftime. It's not like the sun moves or anything.

More like when he finally accepted that the Falcons were getting their butts kicked. He had to grasp at something.

It was the Falcons' head coach. Coincidentally, we had to play into the sun as well and still blew them the hell out.

When the Rams used to play at the Coliseum in L.A., during late games, one end of the field would have the sun right over the stands. I remember several times when receivers couldn't see the ball when looking back for it. It really is more a matter of how the stadium is placed than anything else. You would think that designers would run the field north/south rather than east/west but I guess that isn't always an option based on the land and layout of the building.

Cowboys | League will not adjust video board at stadium
Wed, 17 Mar 2010 16:32:33 -0700

Charean Williams, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the NFL's competition committee has not discussed adjusting the height of Cowboys Stadium's replay board. The NFL said during the preseason it would review the height of video board after the 2009 season, but no punts hit the board during the regular season or postseason. Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay said, "There was no real discussion of that, because of the fact that it didn't occur this year. We did not have anybody come in and make an argument that it should be higher, lower, different."

I don't understand the one in bold about the LBers and Jersey numbers

The sun rotates. It doesn't revolve around the earth. But it does move.
