How's this scenario.

Make trade with NE for their #1.

NE has worst record in NFL giving SF the first pick in the draft.

Purdy doesn't improve, SF doesn't win SB.

SF parlays the first pick into new QB and now doesn't have to pay Purdy. Back to cheap QB for another four years.

Some teams have all the luck.

If I'm the 49ers, that's the first team I'm calling. Just for the good pick alone.

Aiyuk is better then Cooper.

Pretty comparable production during their first 4 seasons. And Cooper played on mostly poor squads, and had to make the most of it. Fantastic route runner. Aiyuk is more physical but I definitely do not see much separation from him and Cooper. And Aiyuk benefits from all the attention drawn to McCaffrey, Kittle, and Deebo. Along with having one of the top offensive coordinators and great offensive line.

What is the over \ under on what they get?

They'll probably get more for him than we would get for CD.

I hate to use that argument. Copper doesn’t get a boost because the Browns suck. Aiyuk is a great route runner as well and he’s more physical. Being in more talented teams hurts his production.

Being on a dog crap offense hurts everyone’s production. Both are very good receivers. Aiyuk is more powerful, but Cooper is faster and quicker in/out of his breaks. Trying to say one is significantly superior to the other is silly based on their production and the eye test.

The 49ers have 50 million in cap space. They can sign the guy if they want to.
Next year they are -39 million in cap space.

2026 they have 44 million in cap space. For reference Dallas has 174 million.

SF has pulled a Philadelphia, they have borrowed against the future for today. If they have to sign Purdy to a new deal, they will be losing more than Aiyuk.

I don’t recall saying one is superior I just think one is reliable and one doesn’t seem to show up in big games.

I could see him going to either Washington or Pittsburgh. Washington, unfortunately, makes a lot of sense with Jaden Daniels. With Pittsburgh, he would be a big factor for them, and Pittsburgh seems to want him. Sounds like a bidding war will begin.
