Among the many compelling nuggets in Peter King’s MMQB column is a disclosure that Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler had asked to be traded weeks before the team tried to comply with his request.

That’s right. Per King, Cutler requested to be dealt after quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates bolted for USC.

So the fact that Cutler is claiming outrage in the wake of the recent near-miss effort to give him what he wanted could be part of a broader plan to get out of Denver.

This way, he looks like the victim instead of the villain, and perhaps the media and the fans will put enough pressure on the team to force the front office to find a suitor.

I love Cutler. Romo for Cutler? I don't know about all that. I do like Cutler more but it would be hard for me to imagine a trade like that getting done.

Are you suggesting Dawkins is the face of their franchise now? :laugh2:

While I think that Cutler is more QB than Romo. I would still ride Romo out for another year or two.

Besides didnt Cutler say he was better than Elway or could throw better than Elway? What a butthead.

He never said he was better or could throw better, he said he had a stronger arm and compared his arm strength to Brett Favre.

Elway replied by saying that at Cutlers age, his arm strength might have been about the same but that obviously Cutlers arm is strong now than his was at the end of his career.

If I was KC, I'd make this trade in a heartbeat. Hi Cassel, later, now your going to Denver and we get a future superstar in Cutler.

I like Jay Cutler, quite a bit, but I don't know that I'd say I'd trade Romo for him. I like Phillip Rivers more than I like Cutler. Now if San Diego wanted to give me Rivers for Romo I'd do that.

I'm sure that's not as popular a move but there are just things I like about Rivers. The guy just has an it factor to him, IMO, that I think is great.

Yeah... Attitude... When the Chargers boo'ed him, he took it personally, to the point it was about proving them wrong. When he succeeded, he rubbed it in their faces.

I doubt the Broncos would trade Cutler for ROmo...To much upside for Cutler, it would be stupid.

Rivers was okay before Turner showed up and I see him going back to average when Norv leaves as well. Alex Smith was bad when Turner came in and went to decent then back to bad after he left. Turner is just a fine QB coach. I wouldn't bring in Rivers in a million years and Romo was a huge reason why I liked Turner over Wade.

Neither Cutler or Romo are proven. They both have a lot of upside and strengths. Rivers is better. I'll still take Romo. Neither one of the other two has Romo's penchant for the big play. Romo cuts down on his turnovers he will be a great QB.
