I didn't say contender to win the NFCE. I meant that game in 2017. IF you disagree with what I said please elaborate.

No, I don't disagree, not for 2017. But again, the stars have to align "just right", for us to be a contender in 2017. If "everything" goes accordingly to plan, then I don't see why we couldn't be a strong team. But, we aren't on the same level as the top tier organizations/franchises in the league. Not even close.

I think its more probable, something will go wrong, and we wont be able to overcome it.

It can if we get the turnovers
The biggest difference last year was our tremendous drop in turnovers from the year before. If we can bounce back there then the defense can be decent. We didn't have much better roster just got many more turnovers. Without the turnovers though you are right

That's what most people don't seem to realize. Turnovers were a big part of 2014. The defense doesn't have really any play makers besides lee.

I always have to laugh at the old, "defensive coordinator dial up a broken collarbone" play that people fear will be called all of the time now. Why wouldn't this be a viable strategy against every team in the league as well? I'm sure the Jets would trade a penalty to get rid of that pesky Tom Brady too.

Well I'll try to explain. Knowing the QB is usually the most important position on the field and knowing that our QB is the most impactful player on the team and knowing the our QB is lately very vulnerable to injury and knowing that we have no respective back up or replacement QB to be effective and knowing that our pass offense is set up for our QB buy 4 to 5 seconds for receivers to get open and knowing that our run game was no longer adequate to offset blitz packages and knowing that our defense cannot keep us in games, I guess that makes us a little different than most.
You cannot say all the above about the Pat's, the Packers, the Seahawks, the Broncos, the Panthers, the Cardinals and several others.
Not sure if you have ever competed in team or individual sports but you attack the teams most effective player by going after his weaknesses and ours is Romo and his weakness is durability. You don't necessarily go after Rothliserger because he's durable and will burn you. Brady will beat you with timing, Rodgers will beat you with his feet and quick release. Romo with his elusiveness. You mentioned Brady. Watch the Den/Pat playoff game. Brady was touched in that game more than any game he's ever played and who won?
After our 4-12 performance without Romo our Cowboys were dead in the water, as opposed to Pats/Broncos and others who manage to compete and win without their "star(s)". We only have one star and that's #9.
Just sayin.

Well that is better than not winning the east??
All I expect is for Dallas to make the playoffs, and win the first game, thats all, anything more than that is icing on the cake.

I agree....but its a shame this team has fallen to such low levels. Just being competitive and making the playoffs is a major victory for the Cowboys nowdays....

I agree with some of what you said. We are not as good as we were in 2014. Randy is basically a rookie again. We downgraded at DE but upgraded at dt. I don't see this team as capable of making a run this year. It'll be tough to even win the division with a healthy romo

About Randy, in addition to the weed problem - wasn't there some stuff posted last year about his reluctance to get back in the game after injury was healed ? Like being afraid to get back out there or some psychological issue he was dealing with post injury ?

I don't even remember which procedure he went with.

Did they put a plate in there or not?

No plate.

Had the Mumford procedure. The distal part of the clavicle is shaved down to release potential pressure against the shoulder. Emmitt Smith has had this procedure.

I'm guessing a plate which requires titanium screws in multiple locations would have taken a lot longer to heal than shaving off one end that this mumford procedure entails.

You've got to love Tony's enthusiasm and I truly hope that things work out for him health-wise. He's worked so hard to help this team win and you can't help but root for good things for someone like him.

Well said.... I feel the same way.

I just realized dallas has not been to playoffs 2 years in a row since the 90's ?
2007,9,14 3 times in 7 years so it is a big deal for them.
Good teams usually are in playoffs year after year and eventually make it to SB, but going several years in a row helps
your chances of going all the way.

I do expect the cowboys to make the playoffs this year.
I do think overall the east will be a tougher div this year.
Eagles got rid of chip and that not worth the money murray lol, so they should be better and more normal team.
Giants added some talent, and have a new HC too.
Wash has some confidence, and should be a ok team.

Last year other teams feasted on the east teams, wont be as easy in 2016

It is better then not winning the East, but I wouldn't define that as being a "contender" in the context its being used. I think , in this context, most people think of contender as being defined as "a team that has a good chance at winning the Super Bowl."

Well forget about saying who is a contender or who isnt, all the playoff teams are to some degree.
To me the 2 teams that play in the nfc or afc championship games are the true contenders for the SB.

last year Carolina was so dominant, they were the only real contender in the nfc.
But still you have to respect the other teams that made the playoffs.

Fans should be happy if their team makes the playoffs, and even more if they win at least one game.
look at all the teams that dont go to the playoffs, like cleve, jags, TB,Rams, etc

getting to and winning a SB is not easy, and it takes all phases working good to do that.

What's hard to figure out about last year is we didn't have all that many playmakers in 14 but got turnovers at a much better rate.

They changed to a man robber scheme without the dynamic players needed to run it. Teams weren't worried about our safeties covering ground and making plays and they were only worried about Lee in the middle of the field. That made QBs reads easy and disguising coverage difficult.

Additionally, our offense was putrid which allowed teams to run the ball and play ball control in the passing game as opposed to attacking downfield.
