How many 1st do you think the Saints would make us send with Dak before they would accept?

Better question is who is the QB after you ship out all the first and the QB?

Payton kinda in that situation in NO isnt he? So what that say your good with 7-9 as long as Dak and MM are gone....

Wish we could send you and all of you Dak haters. Dak is not going anywhere. Sean Payton has even said more than once that he absolutely loves Dak as a QB. That proves you all are foolish and confused.

How many times can you point where an opposing coach talked bad about another teams QB?

Go play your mind games and go cry to someone else who cares. I don't have time for your Dak-hating trolling.

This of course means you think Jerry would change his ways for Payton..correct?

This is straight from an article, which states the rules for a retiring coach.

“An employee under contract to a member club (including a head coach, general manager, or other “high level” employee) who voluntarily resigns or retires prior to the expiration of his contract, is not free to discuss or accept employment with another NFL club without the consent of the prior-employer club,” the memo explains. “This is true for the full remaining term of the employee’s contract. If a club wishes to consent to discussions of a substitute employment arrangement, that club may condition its consent on receiving appropriate compensation from the member club wishing to discuss employment with and/or hire the employee who has ‘retired’ or ‘resigned.’ Once an employee’s contract has expired, the employee is free to seek other employment with another NFL club, assuming there has been compliance with the Anti-Tampering Policy.”

So basically, unless there is an agreement from the NO to allow Payton to seek employment he cannot without consent first. If consent is granted, team "can" ask for compensation. Based on what teams paid for coaches like Parcells, Billichek, Gruden and Holgrem..... if it is anything close to those packages I think the Cowboys would be stupid to act on it. They are better off waiting until Payton's obligation to the Saints is up and than gauge interest in Payton. Interesting enough his expiring contract correlates to Mike McCathys deal with Boys ending (2024)

Im more concerned about the offense and what he could do for Dak’s development. Dak started regressing as the year went along. Payton could turn that around.

If I remember right, Jerry said Jimmy was worth 5 first round draft picks at the press conference introducing Jimmy as HC. Wonder how many he thinks Payton is worth?

But then again, Jerry also said at that time winning was the name of the game, winning was the only thing that mattered.

And the past 26 years of the GM? I'm not saying your wrong I just think Jerry has way more to do with the problem than your statement gives credit to. The lack of execution and attitude is not being coached but it has been tolerated and I'm not sure the coaches are the ones who are good with that.

Good read. Would shock me if he didn't become the Cowboys head coach in the neat future.

Only thing that could stymie this from happening...McCarthy or Kellen Moore win a Super Bowl next season. (Stop laughing!)

    Here's the potential problems:

    1. This could protect McCarthy's job. Because Jerry will think Peyton will want to coach us in the next year or so, so if he wants Peyton then he won't want to bring a new coach just to get rid of him for Peyton after a couple years.

    2. What if in that year or so Peyton decides he don't want to coach, so we wasted a year or two with McCarthy that we might could've avoided.

    3. Does Jerry waste another year or two of his Daky poos career and that stupid contract with a place holder coach?

    Ahh, this should be interesting.

Right, what about his record vs MM says..this guys is worth picks and players more. If Payton can be had for no compensation then sure lets try it...Why the hell would anyone want to give draft capitol for a coach who is comming here with some fake illusion the owner will change....

Of course he could be... and for those saying he needs\wants time off, remember he was suspended for a season not too long ago. And from what I remember he hated being away.

I might, only might, give this year’s 1st round because this offense needs freshness and creativity. But there are others I’m sure could replace Kellen that would accomplish the same and this team doesn’t need to be giving away draft pick. Especially not 1st or 2nd round.

Don’t underestimate the sportscasters need for a new car or baby needing new shoes. They’ll do what they do best - speculate for eyeballs and ears.
