Jason Witten entered the league with Tony Romo in 2003. They quickly bonded, and the tight end ended up catching 649 passes for 7,287 yards and 37 touchdowns from one of his best friends. When Romo lost his job to Dak Prescott last season, the quarterback reminded Witten the team came first. “Tony was the…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2461173&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

I respect Romo as much as anyone but he didn't have to remind Witten.

Witten is a team guy, these young guys have him life last season. I seen Witten have more fun last season than I have ever seen. Witten knows how rare it is to win 11 straight games and he would never even consider letting his friendship with Romo get in the way of that.

I think a lot of people, especially rival fans, have always thought Tony was a d****e. This, along with the press conference he held, reinforces the fact that he was all about the team.

Yes we were. Too bad Garrett wasted most of his career.
I do believe he did, too, as he was still learning his job. I also believe that Garrett has turned the corner enough to not hinder Dak in getting his (ring(s)).

Still, poor Romo.

Jerry was far worse for Romo than JG was, tho, to be fair. All those half-assembled teams. Thank god he isn't GM'ing our franchise anymore.

Actually, on the contrary.

Outside of some homer NFCE fans, football enthusiasts have always admired and respected Romo. It's our fanbase that's chided him the most, and NFCE homers that don't know football. Or the world beyond the tip of their nose.

Why ANYONE would think that about Tony is a total mystery to me. But then some cowboy fans are really stupid pieces of garbage.

As regards those outside of Cowboy land, well look at the sports media and that answers your question

Nah really never saw that. I think you just saw some rival fans message board and made it most. Most people don't even care outside of trash talk. I do agree with whoever said earlier that Romo didn't have to tell Witten anything.

Can anyone imagine Romo getting upset at Witten for putting the team first? This isn't the Bad Girls Club... still can't believe grown females behave that way.

He didn't have to remind Witten, but it speaks to his character that he would want to give Witten his approval. If Romo had raised a ruckus over being replaced by a rookie, it wouldn't surprise me for Witten to have ended up on his side and for there to have been some division in the locker room. The way Romo handled the situation kept that from happening.

I think Prescott deserves some credit in that regard, too. He handled his ascension with the right amount of humility and leadership to help bridge the transition.
