Week Three MVP Meter
Quarterbacks and their receivers making quite the pairs

By Eric Edholm
Sept. 25, 2007

It’s absurd to suggest that Tom Brady needs Randy Moss. Right?

Let’s start with the converse. Someone — and I honestly can’t remember who, or I would credit them justly in this space — suggested recently that Moss and Brady were a great match for, among other reasons, the fact that Moss needed to feel like he was among greatness. When Daunte Culpepper was engineering one of the scarier offenses and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Cris Carter was opposite him in

the MVP race is going to be all about the quarterbacks this year IMO. The way I see it, its going to be between favre, brady, romo, and peyton. Whatever of those teams is the best, that guy will probably be the MVP.

I think the only way Romo has a shot at MVP is if he leads us to a SB victory. If Brady continues his play all season long I think he'll win regardless if the Pats win a SB or not. The media just adores him. Peyton woulda won it last year had LT not ran out of his head and shattered the single season TD record.

Right, and all of these teams don't really have a back up for long term if one should go down. We have the only proven QB back up, and I'm not sold on Johnson being a long term guy for us.

MVP has nothing to do with the playoffs. It is decided before the Super Bowl, so if Romo outplays, or plays close to as well as guys like Brady and Manning, and we have the best record in the NFC, he does have a shot.

Brady is a lock to win MVP. Looking at their schedule, there are 3 potential games they could lose -- Dallas, Indy, and Pit. Sure, they could lose to other teams, but these are the games that stick out in my mind. And within these 3 games, they can win all of them.

Number one offense and number one defense. Enough said...

That means absoutely NOTHING come Sunday (or Monday, Thursday, whatever)...one play against that team or any other team, one hit, one ref call, one injury, can change things in a New York minute!
