I honestly don't think we'll see him on the field until the last 2 or 3 games of the season.

I think we'll treat those as "pre-season" games for him to get him up to speed for the playoffs.

We haven't needed him thus far to score points, so I think we work him back slowly to be an added, secret weapon for the playoffs.

To me this makes the most sense.
He opted for the surgery because he felt this was a SB contending team. He wants to be back for the playoff run and SB and he'll likely need a couple of games to get back into football shape and re-assume his 2nd WR job.

At 7-1 we have no reason to push him but aren't just holding that roster spot for fun. We expect him to help us win playoff games.

Then why not IR him?

I think he'll play (or at least try to) but it's going to take a lot longer to get him on the field than many here are speculating.

We haven't had a serious need for a roster spot yet since we've been mostly healthy.

How do we know he hasn't been running yet. He could be and it is being held a very close secret. I can see the dead bird day game for his return. Maybe a few plays against the deadskins.

It really is hard to know where Glenn is in the process coaches tend to give out as little info on injuries as possible. I think the big question is how will Glenn do once he gets back? I would think he will be limited in the snaps that he gets on offense and will be rotated in and out of games

I have to disagree here.
We actually cut Nate Jones for a bit and wouldn't waste a spot on someone we know isn't coming back.

It's possible Glenn as a set back but the plan is for him to come back this year.

If not he could have opted for the other surgery. Glenn has been honest when questioned about this.

When we cut Nate Jones, there were 14 games left in the season and Glenn had just had surgery that was expected to sideline him for 6-8 weeks. Most reports said he'd likely be back by mid-season.

He's not even running now and, as you know, every week gone means one less game we might have Glenn for. So there have to be some discussions at this point about how long the team can wait.

I can see saving a roster spot for 8 games but for 12? For 14?

I don't care when it is. I just want him at 100% at that time. No need to rush him back.
I'm in 100% agreement. The team is 7-1 without him. There's no doubt that he will provide a boost, but for a team that is playoff bound, having him back for a just a few tune up games in December is good enough.

comeback for the playoffs, hopefully a comeback then could add an extra spark plus anyone we play might not be ready for some T. Glenn.

Not only that, but if/when he does come back I think he'll play sparingly. Maybe 10-15 plays a game.

I think Crayton will still be the "starter."

I agree, and Crayton SHOULD be the starter. For two reasons. #1) he's earned it and he's familiar with an offense that Glenn has yet to play in. #2) Glenn is ten times more effective in the slot than he is split out. Don't get me wrong, he's no slouch when he's the wideout, but when healthy he is EXTREMELY tough to cover out of the slot (ala 2007 Wes Welker).

That's simply not correct.

1. He's always been a major deep threat. Deep threats are more effective OUTSIDE, further away from the safeties.

2. Slot WRs usually see more contact then outside WRs. When Glenn comes back I want him to last the rest of the season/postseason so I don't want him anywhere near the slot.

I second this.

We need Glenn back badly, and the points we are putting up currently is hiding that fact (showing how good Garrett really is), but we need Glenn's deep threat capability in the worse way. With no real deep threats that I like in the draft, Glenn and perhaps a FA like Berrian is a big need for our future.

Nov. 3, 2007

Updated as of 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4

Cowboys sources say the soonest that WR Terry Glenn might return to the team would be the Washington game on Nov. 18, but the team most likely would wait four days and have him play on Thanksgiving.

Hopefully, i miss the guy...
