Granted, Felix Jones’ fumbled kickoff return led to a Giants field goal in the Cowboys' eventual 33-31 loss. But offensive and defensive mistakes overshadowed another overall solid special teams performance.
Jones did rip off a 38-yard kickoff return that led to a first-quarter touchdown. And the coverage units were effective. The Giants’ average drive start was their own 22-yard line. They averaged 18.0 and 7.0 yards, respectively, on kickoff and punt returns.
Bobby Carpenter and Alan Ball were particularly effective. Each had two special teams tackles.
Quietly, Joe DeCamillis’ guys held their ground against the Giants.
