Philly has no threat in NFC

For those living in the Phila region, an article today's daily News suggests that other than Seattle, NO ONE in the NFC poses a threat to the Eagles. In fact, so happy are the fanbase with Rodger's injury, I think city council is planning the parade. Media is buzzing with the fact that at 5-1 the Eagles are clearly the top dog in the NFC and quite possibly the NFL... Viewed as a complete team with few flaws..

I give them credit for winning the games on the schedule...the close ones....which all good teams end up doing??? Obviously the Eagles are in the drivers seat for the Division, seemingly playoff bound...But as a die hard Dallas fan its tough to swallow how things are breaking their way...Elliott suspension, Rodgers injury, OBJ hurt and AFC seemingly open.....what a bad year to not go 13-3....

GB and Atlanta are/were their biggest threats.

Eagles weakness is against the pass. Their CBs can be exploited.

With Rodgers done, that takes the Pack out. Atlanta? Who knows what's going on down there.

Give them credit. Their offseason was fantastic. They had weaknesses at WR and they addressed it. They had a real weakness (still do) at CB and they went out and made a shrewd deal for Darby, who by the way, is expected back soon. And they poured resources back into their strongest position - DL - by adding Barnett in the draft at DE and swapping third round picks for Jernigan at DT. They made sure their strength remained a strength. What did we do along the OL? We took the cheap way out and weakened what is supposed to be our strength.

I am not conceding anything to them. We will be heard from again, we also play them twice and anything can happen. They are 1-1 against good teams this year and Carolina should have won that game if Cam doesn't completely implode on the final two drives.

I agree on all on all accounts, FA signings have paid off....Yet, to talk as if Seattle, Dallas, Minnesota or Atlanta couldn't challenge is a bit much!! Eagles are playing well but they also could be 2-3.....61 yard fg, phantom fumble and Cam proving he is a runner only!! very fortunate, but lucky and victory usually go hand in hand.....

Heck, I'll will admit it, I just HATE the Eagles....!!!

Eagles are always historically quick to crown themselves. I live in the market and I have heard Super Bowl chatter in October countless times over the last 7 years.

So far, so good for them but it’s not how you start...it’s how you finish. The Eagles could easily be 2-3 if the ball bounced the other way...this league is close.

Them eagles fans and media...there they go again....win the SB in the off season, then with a good start on the regular season. Now they are already counting their SB trophies....well at the end of the season, this is what it still will be...:igglestrophy:...
How many times have we seen this now, I am not concerned with that.

They could have lost to the Commanders, Giants, Chargers and the Panthers even the cardinals. they found ways to win, as good teams should. But are they as good as their record?
I will say they are the favorites as of now to win the division, as their schedule is set up well. They are home the next 5 weeks including a bye week before they come here to play.

aren't prediction always trying to predict the future based on the information we have?

Yeah but predicting the Eagles is like trying to predict the stock market...that hot stock go up, soon crashes at some point...
Some continue to rise, but they are not a stable stock. I predict a fall.

Now having said that, this offseason will be very interesting. Limited cap space and Jernigan, Jeffrey and a couple others are up for new deals. They will have to create some cap space (cut some productive players) to keep some of these key guys.

All I know is these guys better get their act together quick. This would be a terrible season to be on the outside looking in with the real owner of this football team out for the year.

Lots of football left to play. I guarantee you the Eagles aren’t crowning themselves.

We have incomplete info as far as I’m concerned. Trying to predicate a 16 game season after 5 games in the NFL is ludicrous. Just my opinion.
Theres 5 billion shows and websites covering the NFL, they need to fill space and time up with something.

I do agree with "the Eagles do this every year in crowing themselves" ok, its an every year thing really it is. Are they hot right now, yes, but they usually win September, October. While they are wearing the early SB crown, im sold they can win the nfc east, im sold on the fact their wheels will come off and they are at best destined for a 1 and done in the SB. They would need lots of help to see otherwise and im not playing that game yet. Just based on where they are at right now, best team in the NFC east.

I have to admit this is about as quickly as I have seen people anoint the Eagles as class of the conference in quite some time.

There were several of Reid's squads that were much superior yet they were never crowned like this.

Eagles are good. They proved that. At 5-1, they deserve to be excited. And their QB has sustained his better play so far this season. All good stuff.

But it's a long year. Things are going to happen, and the divisional games have barely gotten underway.
