Run blitz, zone blitz, etc. , Dallas can expect this IMO from the Eagles. That's why Trotter will get much time. A few years back he would just crash the 'A' gaps every play, which indicates they will try to pressure Romo up the middle. The Cowboys will counter this immediately and attack the edges. I love the way this team is playing and we will NOT be denied! PERIOD!! :starspin

They'll blitz like crazy until they get burned a couple of times and then it's lights out....we'll be in their head and desperation will set in. Thanks for playing;)

They blitz us almost every down in every game, what will be different this time?

I wouldnt blame them. Romo had some passes that were real close to INTs. If they play the odds: they should blitz and hope this time their CBs make the play.

I don't think they did alot of run blitzing the last game. This allows them to fill the gaps just about every play.

I for one don't see them blitzing as much as most think, they have coverage issues and Reid knows this. I pray they do though, Romo will slice/dice them to pieces.:star:

Garrett prevented blitzing last game by going 5 WRs and spreading the Eagles out. If they tried to blitz, they would be leaving a receiver either wide open or one-on-one against their 3rd or 4th corner.

Now unless the Eagles have discovered a way to blitz and cover receivers at the same time, I really dont see how they are going to be successful.

Besides, Romo is the most blitzed QB in the league. If I remember correctly, Romo is blitzed on like 60% of his passes which is number one in the league. Romo knows how to handle the blitz.

They blitzed about 59% of the time in the 1st Game, it was close but we still won.

In the 2nd Game, the Eagles weren't as aggressive, so maybe Sean McDermott felt it was a mistake to blitz so much.

Eagles will blitz unless Dallas starts killing the blitz. I hear some say Philly did not blitz as mucn in the last game true they paid for their blitzes in terms of some big plays aginst them. As Romo said after the game Philly did not blizt as much in the second game as they did the 1st but they still blizted more than most of the teams the Cowboys faced.

Its certainly a pick your poison situation. They have given up too many TD's while blitzing this season, yet, they know, KNOW they cannot sit back in coverage and let Romo pick them apart. The old Romo would have thrown up the occasional questionable ball, the new Romo will not. I expect them to blitz about as much as they usually do (which, sometimes it seems is ever other down against us) or try to blitz in high percentage situations where they feel that they aren't giving us too much of an opportunity.

Regardless, this game will be won in the trenches and Philly knows it cant compete there right now. Should be a blast to watch.

The key to this game will be how we effective the running game will be vs. the Eagles RUN BLITZ. The Eagles reocognize that if they cant limit our running game, they have no shot.

Philly's blitz package gave up more TD's than any other team in the league this year... can't remember where I read that, but it was a final regular season stat.

If they live by the blitz, they will die by the blitz. It will be interesting to see how Garrett (and Romo) counters it.

If the Eagles continue to blitz, leaving Witten as the hot - they are really stupid and will lose again.

If they find a way to keep Witten covered, and for instance in "12" personnel , make the "hot" Phillips or Bennett the Eagles should have more success because of the cerebral connection/ in-syncness factor difference between Romo/Witten and Romo/everyone else.

Even then, as long as the RB in the game makes the right read and makes a good effort at picking up the blitzer, Romo has been playing smart enough to make the right read and make the play. I think he has improved a lot at not forcing the play and realized that if everything does breakdown a throw-away or sack can still be a good play.

Trotter has lost a step and is not as effective blitzing as he was in years past.

Yeah, this guy was retired and had to be coaxed out of retirement.

McDermott is apparently more of a "coverages" coordinator than Johnson was. In other words, he tries to mix up coverages more than just attacking with blitz and leaving the secondary/linebackers assigned to drop to fend for themselves. That is probably the biggest difference. Plus he does not really have effective blitzers. One of his best is actually third CB Joselio Hanson. The problem is the instability at linebacker and safety. It limits what he can do blitzing because what he has does not cover very well, which is crucial to the blitzes not being problems. Overall, they are not blitzing as much because they are worried about coverage issues and they still had them. Unless something changed in a week, the problem is still there.

The only question remains are we prepared to take advantage. Romo has been somewhat suspect in beating odd blitzes. Several ugly sacks to cornerbacks and linebackers have been problems. He needs to be just as prudent and avoid the fumbles and remain calm.

Say what you want about his catching, but he sure as hell gives all out effort when he's blocking.

It was J.Johnsons ability to disguise where the blitz was coming from, ie your "odd blitz" that made his D

Garretts 5 Wide took away the S & CB blitz effectivly, but gotta figure Reid to find a way.

The game has "slowed down" for Romo it appears, ie he is seeing things more clearly, its happening in slo-mo ala Peyton Manning for several years.
