Count me among the underwhelmed thus far. At least a few of these guys could have been had later, we're not getting need positions, and we're not trading up with those 12 picks yet.

None of which means this isn't a good draft -- these guys in the FO know a helluva lot more about drafting than I do and the draft is still something of a crapshoot so acquiring truly good depth that can possibly mature later is all good.

But still -- underwhelming to say the least.

Look on the bright side. The preseason games will be interesting cause we'll have 12 players to look at.;)

Well....it looks like a reach, but at least he seems to have a good motor and some athletic ability. I would have preferred Duke or Dillard.

From ESPN

Butler has the size and quickness to line up at the rush-end position in a 3-4 look. His quick first step and explosiveness off the edge makes him one of this year's most intriguing midround pass-rushing prospects. However, Butler must get stronger at the point of attack and be more consistent as an open-field tackler.

How come whoever our opponents picks are walking Gods and whoever we pick sucks? How does this work?

:laugh2: I hear ya. Had the Iggles, Gints, Jets, or Patsies picked him, it would have been sheer genius, I tell ya.

Yea, that was what I was thinking too. You guys want who you want and think the picks all suck if JJ picks someone else other than that.

I liked Sidbury better, but Butler is better than a sixth-round pick for a 3-4 defense. He was an extremely productive pass-rusher (12 sacks this season, 10.5 last season) in the Pac-10 and a first-team All-Pac-10 pick.

Sidbury's fall is puzzling.

David, you thrilled with any of these picks?
As usual, the discussion in here revolves around the most extreme opinions.

The sensible, moderate take on this draft, which is being ignored because, well, it's sensible and moderate, seems to be that these are a lot of 'left field' picks, some of them have promise and some of them are head scratchers. And, of course, everyone understands that our scouts are pros and that it takes a lot of time to properly judge a draft.

But there are very few choices thus far to really be excited about.
