If you read several posts and etc. some act as though all the good players are going to be gone.
I'm excited because I see 3 or 4 new starters in the first 4 rounds. In round 1 at Pick 27:

Players most likely gone before the 27th pick:

QB:
Jameis Winston
Marcus Mariota

RB:
Gurley
Gordon

WR:
Amari Cooper
Kevin White
DeVante Parker

OL:
Brandon Scherff
Ereck Flowers
La'el Collins
Andrus Peat
DJ Humpries

DL:
Leonard Williams
Danny Shelton
Danta Fowler
Leonard Williams

LB:
Vic Beasley
Shane Ray
Bud Dupree
Eli Harold

20 Players most likely gone leaving 7 Solid Players at Pick 27

DL:
Arik Armstead
Malcom Brown

LB:
Randy Gregory

CB:
Trae Wayne
Kevin Johnson
Marcus Peters
Byron Jones

My personal feelings where the Cowboys are picking at #27 the strength left
would most likely be a DL or CB the following 7 listed above would be solid
Players to add to our Defense honestly I would rather take a DL at that spot
over a cornerback. I would be estatic if Malcom Brown or equivalent was
sitting there I would run to the podium and make the pick. I wouldn't be sad
if a CB such as Kevin Johnson however I believe that DL comes with less
risk than CB because I feel their more hit and miss early in draft.

I'm super far from a draft expert but I'm guessing 3 of those corners will be gone by 27
Yes, of course, but what he's saying is that mathematically one of good players has to be there at 27. And I agree. There's going to be a lot of meat left on the bone at 27. The real question is whether there's enough to warrant a trade down.

For all we know Gregory is completely off our draft board and with the recent news about Jalen Collins 1st round possibility now dead, its possible that every player u named will be gone by the time we pick which sucks.

Swap out Brown for Harold and I agree with most what you say. I think Brown is a top 20 whereas Harold is fringe first.

I could be wrong, Harold is avery good pass rusher and we all know how they often go earlier then expected

(psst, you've got Leonard Williams in there twice)

Somebody worthy will be there. It's probably going to be one of our last options though rather than one of our first.

The real question is whether there's enough to warrant a trade down.

Some team with a top 6-8 pick in the 2nd round will fall in love with a player falling and want to move up to draft him. Every team knows the Cowboys are willing trade partners. Add that to the fact I don't buy that the Cowboys have 27 players with first round grades I still think there is at least a 50/50 or better chance we move down. Just my .02 worth.

Which has worked out well for us the past couple drafts

Trade backs have worked well for us in recent memory and the draft can change on a dime, but I don't see an impact starter for this defense coming after the first round. I think someone will be there at 27 that is a starter day one. I don't want a trade back this year.

Like I said though, things can change quickly, especially if there is a run one a position like runningback or cornerback.

Our pick is going to come down to if you want to chance on a player or make a solid pick. Marcus Peters will be there. He is the second best corner in this draft after KJ. Then there is Gregory. The best pass rusher in the draft. I don't care about the weight at all actually and I wouldn't hesitate to take him. I would be more hesitant on Peters though because he seems to have mental issues.

Nice list!

I think there are a few fast risers who could slip into the top 26 as well, especially at WR, guys like Perriman and Dorsett. Someone you don't expect always slides. Landon Collins seems to be in free fall. I know nothing about the player, but he was once thought of as a top-10 pick.

When a guy fails a drug test at the combine it screams ADDICT and STUPID to me.

It would be awesome if Malcom Brown were there at 27, guy is a beast!

I have not heard anything from Dallas that would indicate their interest, but this guy is one pick that you walk away thinking you have a day 1 starter and big improvement on your team. I hope they are thinking about him behind the scenes.

I agree with you. I think their preference at this point (unless a huge talent inexplicably drops) is to trade down and acquire more picks.

I just hope that if they do, they get commensurate value for doing so.

Peters really reminds me a lot of Aquib Talib. Both in terms of talent and behavior.

You are correct, players fall every year. My two dark horses at 27 are Kendricks and McKinnley. They have shown a lot of interest in both. I think Gurley, Gordon, Johnson, Jones and Peters are gone and they have no interest in Malcom Brown.

Looking back at the past 5 years on where CBs were picked, it is most likely that 3 CBs will be gone with a +/- 1 variance:
2010 3rd - 27
2011 3rd - 27
2012 3rd - 17, 4th - 39
2013 4th - 25, 5th - 36
2014 4th - 25, 5th - 31

IIRC, DL is one of the highest bust rates in the 1st round.
