Judging by his posture and pose I guess it is supposed to be a recreation of Staubach after he threw the legendary "Hailmary" that gave the deep bomb the christening title it holds to this day.

My feelings exactly. Roger the Dodger looks more like Roger Staufat.

That's the first thing i thought, then i thought why does he look like he's trying to catch a flyball?

Their mistakes or liberties undoubtedly, it seems obvious to me they are implying that famous play.

His eyes are focused toward the heavens as if to watch the path of the ball or perform a subtle prayer after releasing the ball.

The second play that came to mind based on his late 70s uniform was Super Bowl XIII when he rifled one to Jackie Smith but seeming that was inside the redzone his eyes would not have been so sky bound because the path of the ball was not a sharp arch.

All in all it seems to be a mesh of an homage to Staubach's career.

Just too thick through the waist, I think.

Still, a nice likeness.
