Sometimes it's possible to let go. If you're flying in the opposite direction, it doesn't matter if you let go, it's not going to happen before the head snaps around like Cole's did.

I didn't see that. I saw no effort on Biggers' part to let go.

He knew he grabbed it and didn't care.

If that's what he needed to do to bring him down, that's what he was going to do.

I'm not implying an intent to injure, I don't think he thought about the potential for injury one way or the other.

But he made no effort to release that facemask.

Look at the play again. The defender tugged until he was sure Beasley was down. He had no interest in letting go.

There wasn't even an attempt to let go, he dragged him to the ground. Not saying it was malicious either, but it does warrant a fine.

I see it happen often, but the defender usually tries to get his hands free at some point, even at game speed.
