1) Is he still in the hospital? 9 Days is a long time to be in a hospital unless it is very serious or there are complications.
2) He won't even communicate with any player or team official.
3) He refuses to show the team his hand or give them any medical information.
4) Doctors just don't cut fingers off to 'speed up' the healing process. That finger had to have been seriously gone or a serious danger to the rest of the hand, like gangrene or something. I'm no doctor. Just a guess. My dad had a tough time finding a dentist to pull a tooth. The dentists were like, we save teeth. We don't pull them.

And this guy now wants the $15M guaranteed? Yeah, good luck with that. The Giants should just dump him now and be thankful it doesn't cost them any money going forward. Use the $15M for something else.

keep wondering where all these reports about how optimistic everyone is comes from if no one has seen him or really talked to the doctors about it.

I think it's ironic how, 10 days ago, JPP was not happy with the franchise designation. Now, he has essentially approached the Giants with hat in hand politely asking them to please let him sign that same offer sheet with the guarantee he gets paid in full, even for games missed.

Kind of reminds me of Signor Roberto. "What a misunderstanding! Holy Mary!"

I wonder if this incident will make other currently (or future) tagged players think twice about holding out for a bigger contract offer before the 15th and instead just take what's on the table. Wishful thinking maybe.

Not sure about that, but I think if they don't have a long term contract in place they will pay someone else to light their fireworks for them in the future.

Don't see how. My surgery was done at the hand center in SA same doctors that treat the Spurs. They reattached hands feet legs etc. Mine was just one finger ripper off with a hole saw on a drill press.
Thumbs are much worse.

I have YET to see anyone state the challenges he faces maintaining and/go gaining upper body strength. How is he going to bench press, shoulder press, bicep curl, tricep pulldown, seated rows, lat pull down etc....you need your hands to TRAIN your upper body. Everyone is jumping to will he play.....how can he even TRAIN...to get READY to play?

BB, I was thinking the exact same thing! How is he going to maintain the upper body stength without full use of the hand?
