They have a free safety and Pete Hunter as their cornerbacks and we don't go deep ONCE? Hell, we didn't even throw the ball downfield. What is that? You've got TO and Terry Glenn and you don't even challenge that secondary? Simply horrible.

And the worst play of all, if you ask me is on 3rd and 1 deep in the 4th, doing what everyone expects you to do and running the ball to not pick up the first down. You get that first down and win the game. Instead, Parcells got conservative as he has for 4 years now and that lost us the game.

I think Parcells is a great evaluator of talent and due to that we have a team full of promise. But we need a young coach in here that will take chances and play to win. If you ask me, Bill is one of the worst in-game coaches in the NFL right now.

I couldn't agree more.

I was amazed how much Hunter was on the field. I don't know why our playcalling and/or execution was so inept.

thats what i thought...how do u not once go deep when u have second string secondary against what John Madden said"two of the best receivers in the game" i was disappointed on how they didnt take advantage of that...i mean TO beat D.Hall deep how does he not beat Hunter...

How many of those times when Romo dumped it off short or held the ball too long were supposed to be deep passes? Just because he never threw deep doesn't mean we didn't call any.

If they were called, at some point, he has to give Owens and/or Glenn a chance to make the play. Romo led the entire league in percentage of passes thrown more than 20 yards downfield -- 19.0 percent -- and I don't think he had a single attempt that far tonight, other than the Hail Mary, did he?

The pass to Witten down the middle in tight coverage might have been 20. Not sure

Actually come to think of it I do believe it was something like a 34-yd pass.

Our play calling has been questionable for some time now so tonight wasn't really a surprise to me. Whoever is calling plays is amongst the worst in the league.

They dialed up those routes, but their safeties were rolled over the top to protect their corners. Knowing that, it disappoints me we couldn't work under to Witten more, who was matched up on a linebacker most of the night.

You can't force things long when they're protecting deep like that, but that doesn't mean you can't get yours in chunks in front of coverage.

It's a real shame we couldn't execute that more often. Of course, the fumbles certainly didn't help.

It was 32 yards total, but Witten ran after the catch. I'll have to watch the play again to see how far downfield he caught it.

Edit: I watched the play again, and Witten caught it 16 yards downfield and ran another 16.

Adam, do you think the Cowboys erred in their offensive game planning tonight? Should they have gone downfield against that suspect secondary more often?

The playcalling was fine... We had the game won. Keep in mind going into the game, the defence for Dallas sucked and Romo was having turnover issues. The playcalling but the team in a great position to win the game at the end. But a fluke played happen with the field goal.

We lost two games this year 'cause we couldn't get the damn kick in the air. That's it.

Somewhere, Vanderjagt's laughing. Manning throws three picks (granted, in a win) and our inability to get a field goal off knocks us out of the postseason.

Here's to hoping Romo can recover from this better than Vanderjagt did his mishap.

Of course we should have tested their secondary more. But that doesn't mean it wasn't in the game plan or the plays weren't called. I'm wondering how many times we called a play that had the potential for a deep pass but never threw it there. We don't know whether to blame the coaches, Romo, the receivers or even the line -- or a combination of any of them.
