It's around the time of free agency, everyone is talking about it on here. I ask you what good is bringing in players to this team, if we don't have the right attitude and mental makeup to beat teams we often struggle with?? We could bring in every top free agent, but if we're not mentally and physically out playing these teams, what are we doing?? Sure we need to fill the roster, but the attitudes must be right in all 3 phases of the team, the coaches and ownership!
We can do this, I believe we can, I believe we're bringing in good staff!
Please give your thoughts
I think you are talking about organizational culture, which attitude is part of it.
any organizational culture starts at the top and with Stephen and Jerry, we can only change organizational culture so much. its always reactive as opposed to purposeful focus. Jerry is reacting to all the criticism, and fan unhappiness. that's why the talk about spending in FA, busting the budget. Stephen is who is. control the money. his comments about weckign future cap and money is big tell, they are focused on profits. its their DNA. everything else is marketing and public perception management. Jerry is in full damage control mode. they will sign a few FA. they have to or else, there will literally be a revolt at the ticket office and merchendise and that's what scares them.
with that said, this forced them into two things. first hiring a good DC after just putting a guy there and hoping, with the thought process of "how bad could it get?".. well last year it got bad. and it was 6th all time worse defense (scoring). the lax attitude toward roster building and coaching eventually catches up with any organization.
so Parker is a fiery coach, laser focused and because of the past 4 seasons shiets, he was allowed to assemble his own staff. essentially Jerry was cornered. now, they will sign a few FAs. fill in some needs at Saftey, CB and LB. and they seem to be laser focused on draft. no more Mazi's because he could jump out of a pool and no more charlton's, projecting players that just don't have it. I loved that parker said, there is a premium on instincts. that means they want football players, not olympic athletes.
second, that jerry knows he has to spend in FA. being in the bottom of the league for past 6 years, is caught up with them. specially that they missed on some draft years. if you are not going to spend in FA, then you better dang hit your drafts and we haven't been. 2024 was a disaster, yes we got beebee and I like him, but hated the guyton pick. you don't spend a first roudn pick on a RT with all of 8 game starting experience and then change his position to the 2nd most important offensive position. I wasn't happy about Booker pick in 2025, as I didn't think a RG is what ailed this team. and 2023, well, lets not go there.
so we missed on adding talent in draft. missed in FA and result is what we see.
I do expect this team change. they will take persona of their coaches. I think Schotty is a bit under rated, although I think we could have done much better if we spent (look at NE and Chicago). I think Parker is going to improve this defense, but as I said it about Moore, I say it about Parker. He is a first year DC. he has to make mistakes and learn, he will make mistakes and learn and that's the way of NFL. but his learning curve is shorter than Moore. at least he has been around. the defense will follow his lead and will be much better and perhaps that's what we need. I would love to see this team win some low scoring games and get all the Dak haters to pounce in and say we won despite Dak ( I guarantee it).
but Jerry is Jerry. he will not meddle, until he can't not meddle, which if we see success it will be towards end of next year and 100% he will be meddling in 2027.
